High school poetry teacher, Elaine, writes paranormal fantasy romances. Brian is a brilliant computer game designer and hopeful science fiction writer. As these shy strangers steal glances over laptops and Starbucks’ lattes, will fantasy turn to romance? Can Elaine’s gentle but powerful white witch heroine, Tranquility, subdue Brian’s alpha male hero, Duke Starmaster? Can Elaine and Brian leave their imaginary worlds long enough to fall in love?

Elaine and Brian are a perfect match. They’re both into sipping designer coffees at Starbucks, open to a new relationship and, to top it off, they’re both writers. Although Elaine’s magical tale isn’t exactly the sci-fi fare Brian’s used to, there seems to be room for these two wordsmiths to find a way to their own happily ever after.

“From Latte to Love” is clever, pulling three stories (Elaine and Brian’s real life story as well as both of their fictionalized accounts) into one. Ms. Polo does a great job of weaving together all points of view and makes the transition from story to story seem effortless. I like the way Elaine and Brian’s writing matches their personalities. Also, I enjoyed the way each had a life outside writing. Sometimes stories about writers make it seem like that’s their one and only interest; this shows that’s just not so, at least not in the case of these two characters.

With a writing sample to suit almost every taste, “From Latte to Love” is delicious fun! Well done!
