Wealthy and beautiful, Samantha Matthews has everything in life…everything but love. Hounded by her affluent parents to marry for wealth, she escapes to a Montana dude ranch to avoid their manipulations.

Head wrangler of his uncle's ranch, Dalton MacLaine has only one thing on his mind: land. His plan to realize the dream of building his own cattle ranch takes precedence over his love life. Or so he thinks.

The last thing Samantha needs is a dusty cattleman. The last thing Dalton wants to be is a summer fling. However, undeniable emotions and a powerful chemistry lead to a passionate romance that’s plagued by deception and distrust.

This was a great romance set in the Big Sky Country of Montana. I knew from the first page that I was going to love this writer. The interaction between the characters was so realistic it had me grinning from ear to ear.

Samantha and her two friends spend a week at a modern dude ranch where you can choose to work or relax in pampered luxury.  Although Samantha is an heiress living on a Kentucky horse farm, she is also a registered nurse and a down to earth woman. One girlfriend loves to be pampered and the other, Jessica, is full of fun and adventure.

From the first day, Samantha and Jessica are attracted to the nephews of the ranch owners. Jessica is immediately drawn to the younger brother, Clay.  The oldest, Dalton, is everything you would want in a man and more. Through the author’s words you can see him riding the ranch looking exactly like the “Marlboro Man.” While in Wyoming I saw the perfect “cowboy” riding along the side of a mountain road. My heart and other parts of my body did a little flutter. Sloan Seymour reminded me of that day and how I felt. Everything about the hero is sensual and masculine.  Dalton’s only flaw is being a macho male that takes everything at face value. Of course Sam is drawn to him like a moth to a hot flame.

The ranch owners are impressed with Sam’s nursing credentials and offer her and Jessica, a job for the summer. Sloan Seymour takes us on several adventures with Sam and Dalton being the central characters. The sex is hot and steamy, and you want more. I can guarantee you won’t be speed reading. If you like to squirm in your chair and become the heroine, this book is definitely for you.

There are several problems that get in the way of Sam and Dalton’s love affair. One is a slimy ranch hand that likes to play it rough. Sam’s snobby parents, that are more concerned with position and power than their daughter, are another. Of course hard headed Dalton has to break Sam’s heart before they can resolve all the issues.

As a horsewoman, I really enjoyed the details about Beau, Samantha’s stallion. There isn’t enough literature out there for us horse lovers, and I hope Sloan satisfies the equestrians while weaving the next romance. This is a talented writer who I’ll be looking for. It’s been a while since I read a good contemporary western, and this book definitely wet my appetite for more.

That Montana Summer is a great read, and I stayed up way to late to finish it. The story is well written and edited. I congratulate Sloan Seymour on a five book romance.
