A single administrative assistant accepts her temporary boss’s offer to masquerade as his fiancée to keep his matchmaking grandmother out of his personal life and out of the way while he negotiates a high-profile merger for his family-owned company. In exchange, she’ll get the down payment for the loan she needs to keep her ex from selling her condo out from under her.

But neither of them counted on the lines blurring between real and pretend--or for the temporary arrangement to leave them both longing for something more permanent.

Andi GoForth has consistently been hurt by the men in her life. Her father left Andi and her mother to marry the woman his parents had chosen for him. Then her boyfriend, whom she had been ready to marry, announces that he wants out. With all of these hurts, she decides men are not worth it and gone on a celibacy pact. However, her resolve is shattered when Cole Greene, her new boss, asks her to be his fiancée.

Cole Greene can face down big companies and influential people. But the one person he cannot face down is his own grandmother: Helen Greene. She is a force to be reckoned with. Knowing that if he does not have a fiancée when she comes to visit, thing will get out of hand, he asks his new assistant, Andi to pretend to be engaged to him. Things seem to be going well until Andi’s friend spills the beans and she has to move in with him. Will they be able to hold up the ruse, especially under Helen’s scrutinizing eyes?

This original storyline had me captivated from the very beginning. One of the reason that I chose to read this book is because of the title, Here Comes the Bribe. The title captured by attention immediately. And the rest of the book does not disappoint either. Andi and Cole may seem like typical characters. But both have weaknesses and flaws that make them authentic and relatable and the author's writing truly brought them to life. I especially enjoyed Helen’s character.  When it becomes clear how she manipulated the entire situation, you can’t help but appreciate her. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and I am looking forward to reading more of Ms. Davis’ works.
