When Mike Tucker dumps crème brûlée down chef Patrice Wilson’s dress whites, she knows it’s time to forget her life-long crush and move on. It isn’t until she’s no longer speaking to him that Mike realizes he’s loved her all along. His just-before-Christmas campaign to win her back involves four nosey parents, three scoops of ice cream, two other suitors and a Don Quixote singing troubadour.

Caution: This book may cause urges to visit the ice cream parlor of Dr. Delicious. Stock up on frozen treats before beginning. You’ve been forewarned.

I have to say, Crème Brûlée Upset hooked me from the terrific opening scene and I could do nothing more than read on. This story is filled with romantic comedy but told in such a way that it touches your heart. I must commend Ms. Bradley on creating such a diverse cast of wonderful characters. She wrote her hero and heroine so convincingly with such real emotions and reservations that you can’t help but feel for both of them—no taking sides here.

Patrice Wilson has had stars in her eyes regarding Mike Tucker since she was a child. And relinquishing those feelings seems like the hardest thing she will ever have to do. Your heart feels so torn for Patrice as she struggles with letting go and moving forward in her life. And what of tongue-tied Mike, lawyer and litigator, who never seems to be able to get his words to come out right when speaking with Patrice? What a joy to watch him attempt to find the ways to prove his love is real and genuine before losing her forever.

This is a must read, a treat not to be missed. Now where can I get some Dr. Delicious Ice Cream??
