Katrina Jamieson didn’t have time for a man in her life, much less a cowboy. She’s not about to give up her career as a fighter pilot for anything. Zipping amongst the clouds at 40,000 feet is her dream and being the best pilot the Force has ever seen, encompasses her days.

Justin Wilder, cattle rancher and all around gorgeous hunk, doesn’t need the feisty Katrina in the middle of his world. He does just fine, thank you very much, taking care of his cows and building his ranch, but he can’t seem to forget her after she slams her brand new, Mustang GT 500 KR into the side of his truck.

When their worlds collide, sparks fly and these two are so hot, skin sizzles when they touch. Can their attraction stand the test of time or will it burn out faster than the afterburners of her jet?

Justin Wilder is driving in Las Vegas when another car, driven by Katrina (Kat) Jamieson slams into him. She blames him for running a red light but he insists it was green. They go their separate ways and we learn that Justin is a cattleman whose family has ranched for years in Wyoming. He thought the winters too cold and decided to start a ranch in Nevada. Mark is his business advisor and early in the story sets up a meeting for Justin with a Japanese businessman. It’s there that Mark introduces his cousin, who just happens to be Katrina. They dance together and both are attracted to one another, however, Kat is cool towards him. While Kat is heading home, a man mistakes her for a prostitute and Justin comes to her aid, takes her home and they make love. The next morning, Kat has regrets and quickly leaves the ranch. Kat is a fighter jet pilot and puts her career first and tries her best not to fall in love with Justin. I won’t give the rest of the plot away but will just say there is a plot turn and lots of story in these 161 pages.

My one criticism of Wild Nevada Ride is that some things seemed contrived. For example, the coincidence of Kat being Mark’s cousin, her going along to the meeting and it just so happens she’s the same woman that got into the fender bender with Justin. Then their next meeting is at a family birthday party where Kat is in attendance and Mark just happens to invite Justin. This is a good story, but had the author allowed these two to meet up again by pure chance or have them meet because of something to do with their accident, I think it would have made for a stronger story.

All the characters are likeable and believable. Justin is very sexy and you’re drawn to him on the first page. I especially liked the dialogue. It’s very snappy with one-liners flying back and forth between Justin and Kat, which I felt took the sexual tension up a notch or two. In addition, the secondary characters were well developed and moved the story forward. There was just the right amount of sex scenes for the length of the book. I also enjoyed the setting—most ranch-type stories are set in Texas or Wyoming, so Nevada gave it a nice twist with the opening taking place in downtown Las Vegas.
