One moment in time will bring two people together and change the destiny of a city.

Vampires are running wild and it is Grant’s job to keep his own kind in check. The warrior of choice, Grant quietly works with his team to keep the streets safe while his heart breaks over his own past. When Grant is about ready to give up the search for his missing sister, he runs into a woman who will make him question everything he thought he knew and sets off events that will rock the city he calls home.

Paige has been on the run too long and is at the end of her rope when she meets the handsome and intriguing Grant. Surrendering to her passion for the vampire is one thing, giving him her heart… that’s another story. Especially when she’s not sure whether Grant wants her for himself or for the connection to his sister.

Miscommunication, betrayal, and pure evil work to keep these two soul mates apart. Will they have a chance to learn that love can conquer all? Or is it already too late?

Love at first…bite? Or perhaps lust that develops into something more…

Since her brutal turning and subsequent torture, Paige wants nothing more to do with vampires, despite being one herself. She hunts when necessary and keeps to herself. Problem is, other vamps seem to have a knack for finding her. You see, vampires need blood to survive, but drinking the essence of another vampire gives them more strength so Paige isn’t even safe with her own kind. Having never learned to tap in to the full nature of her powers, she’s weaker and an easy target for other vamps just looking for a fix. They take what they want and leave her behind. That is, until she comes face to face with the one vampire who wants more than just her blood.

Despite her growing affection, there are some secrets about Grant’s past that may prove too much for Paige to handle.

Vamps In The City was one of those stories that had a lot of potential but seemed to fall just a little short of reaching it. It was certainly interesting enough to keep me reading and I made it through to the end to find out what happened, but it could have been a great story if the author had done things like expanded the conflicts a little more. It felt like there was one drama after another, but each was solved so quickly that it gave me the feeling of a deflated balloon.

Ms. Smith does offer some interesting and unique twists to her vampires with their powers and abilities, and I wish she’d have drawn on those a little more. The attraction between Grant and Paige is exciting and the intimacy between them certainly heats things up. I believe this author has the potential for some great writing with a little tweaking and practice at plot development. Being a vampire lover, I would read something by Ms. Smith again, as her vampire creativity certainly caught my attention. It’s always nice to see something fresh and new.
