Trouble, Toys &Tempting Cowboys is a gem in the erotic world. It’s an incredibly hot book that also contains a very compelling story!
Tiffany Stoler is a great character. She’s beautiful and sympathetic, but she’s also determined and smart. Brought up in a difficult home, she breaks free and makes something of herself, while devoting a part of her life as a social worker to those who have suffered hardships as well. Seemingly to the contrary, Tiffany makes money on the side by selling sex toys, but part of the money she makes there is also donated to the welfare of the kids. Her part time job is what led her to meet a raucous group of cowboys gathered for a bachelor party.
Brock Halston is one of those cowboys. He’s the strong, silent type, who is instantly taken with Tiffany. Ms. LaRose’s strength is, by far, her love scenes. She’s creative and seductive, but also very intentional with her language. The scenes, though very hot, all have a purpose, and help to demonstrate and grow the connection between the two lovers. There’s a great deal of time spent on the relationship between Brock and Tiff, and I enjoyed every step of the way, and came to like both characters very much.
My only wish is that some of the surrounding relationships, such as family and friends, were developed a bit more than they were. To expound too much would reveal the ending of the book, and the suspense elements were good, but it didn’t feel like there was enough development in places. I do also wish the story had been extended a bit. There were some loose ends that weren’t quite tied up and I attribute that to the abrupt ending. All the major questions were answered, but there were a few, “I wonder what happened to…” that I found myself asking at the end. It didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book, and would still recommend it to others for a great read, but perhaps fleshing out some of those missing pieces would make this four star story into five.
If you love a good “who dunnit,” mixed with a strong, hot love element, this is definitely a title (and author) to pick up!
