Book four in the Kemet Uncovered Series

I am nature’s representative. I give my voice when the earth cannot. My work sent me on an intersecting course with a stubborn, arrogant, and hard-headed man named, Kenric Annson.

Although I don’t understand him I can’t help but be attracted to him. His smouldering looks and heated caresses have rattled me unlike any before him. The cosmos have an interesting sense of humour.

Me, who has lived longer than he could possibly imagine can be struck mute by something so simple as his touch. What’s a goddess to do when she wants the one man who has the means destroy her beloved earth? Kill him? Save him?

Saffron

Kenric Annson and his crew are digging in the mines of Somalia for natural gas when the powers-that-be sent a civilian to help them find the natural gas pockets. Kenric was annoyed because he did not want to babysit ‘a rock doc’. Kenric felt he had his hands full protecting his men from the bands of Muslim extremists who attacked them constantly and he didn’t need to add someone else to his list. However, when Saffron Eshe arrived at the site Kenric was instantly struck by her beauty and his only thought was that he would love to ‘see her in a bikini or nothing at all’.

The owner of the mine, Kade Grimmel, Frank’s brother, sent Doctor Saffron Eshe, a geologist, to help Kenric and the miners find the natural gas. She’s beautiful, arrogant, confident and immediately let Kenric know that this ‘rock doc’ could take care of herself. She’s also completely attracted to Kenric and would like nothing more than to wrap herself around him. Which is what she does the first time he took her into the mine, she gave into the urge and kissed him.

Kenric couldn’t understand the overwhelming need to protect Saffron, especially since she irritated him so much, but what he didn’t know was that Saffron wasn’t what she appeared to be. Saffron Eshe was the Egyptian goddess Qetesh, protector of the earth, and her main purpose for being there was to protect what she loved. Saffron realized that they were blasting near the fault line and she could feel the earth’s unhappiness. She also felt something else, she felt desire for a human and she didn’t quite know what to make of that.

Taige Crenshaw and Aliyah Burke are two of my favorite writers, when they weave a tale the reader becomes so engrossed in the characters and the story that you feel like you are right there with them. Saffron, the fourth book in the Kemet Uncovered Series, did not disappoint this reader. The main characters as well as the supporting characters were woven expertly into the fabric of the story. Each character had a purpose and this reader cared about each one, and couldn’t wait for the villain of the tale to be handled. Although this novella was only 71 pages, the characters were well developed and the story did not leave me feeling like it had been rushed. Saffron mixed ancient Egyptian lore with a modern day setting which allowed this reader to sit back and enjoy an absolutely beautiful story.
