When Jenny Miller’s widowed mother becomes engaged to the father of Jenny’s ex-lover, Jenny is torn. She knows a renewal of her affair with Robert, her soon-to-be stepbrother, could jeopardize her mother’s marriage. But Robert was the sexiest, most commanding lover Jenny has had, and though he has a reputation as a heartbreaker, she yearns to get him back in bed.

When Robert plays the role of Pirate Blackwell in a video production, and Jenny plays the pirate’s wife, Robert’s passionate on-camera kiss sends Jenny’s libido into overdrive. Jenny is a dedicated lawyer who has prided herself on her self-control. But resisting the irresistible Robert? That’s a whole other case.

Jenny and Robert had had a brief fling in their past. The hottest, most incredible sex of Jenny’s life. She couldn’t stop thinking about it even nine months later. But now that Robert was about to become Jenny’s step-brother, she fought to find a way to curb her desire for the gorgeously masculine man. For one thing, Robert was not the settle down and commit kind of man. It would be emotionally dangerous to lose her heart to him. Also, her family had no idea of their earlier relationship and Jenny wanted it to stay that way, not knowing how it would be received.

Jenny, a practicing lawyer, is basically a conservative person. She has never had any success in choosing a man because she has always worked from an ideal of attributes that she believed would make a good husband. Ideals that she compiled using only the analytical side of her brain. But Jenny is not emotionally one-dimensional. She has a passionate, spontaneous side to her as well. Later, Jenny learns that Robert is in town and will be in the film as well. It’s all Jenny can do to keep her composure during the making of the film. Especially when Robert ad-libs a hot kiss into the scene between them!

The author does a beautiful job in fleshing out this very romantic and sensitive tale with her colorful and engaging words. The characters are well developed and I found them believable and interesting. I enjoyed the way she allowed the story to come to life by repeatedly flashing back to the earlier affair between Jenny and Robert from Jenny’s point of view. She did this smoothly, with vivid emotional detail that imparted insight and clarity into the characterization and the relationship of the couple.

The sex scenes were powerful, scorching hot and worked fluently into the story with dynamic finesse. Best of all, she fully ended the story in a touching way that didn’t leave you dangling or feeling like there was something missing. I found this to be a beautiful, absorbing romance rich with depth and imagery by a writer with the talent to deliver a high-quality product. Quite a neat feat considering the length of the story. My eyes misted, I chuckled, cringed and truly empathized with these characters. I highly recommend this delightful read.
