When temptation catches fire, saddle up and hang on for the ride.

A Red Hot Weekend story

Lone Wyatt is a long way from his Colorado home. After his brother married the woman they both loved, he figured it’d be best if he was out of the way. He’d like to have his own one-and-only, but he’s in no rush. Until he saunters into a small Oklahoma town and spots Charli Kudrow. One wary glance from her haunted eyes, and he knows there’s hidden fire inside her just waiting to erupt. And he’s ready to tear through every objection she can think up.

Charli intends to slip out of Shooters unnoticed as soon as she’s done pinning a help wanted notice to the bulletin board. But there’s a cowboy at the bar with a killer smile who seems hell-bent on seducing her. And she feels something she hasn’t felt in five long years of widowhood—a spark of attraction. Thinking she’ll never see him again, she succumbs to temptation, only to discover that little “spark” is more like a raging wildfire.

One weekend is all he asks. One weekend to prove there’s more between them than just blazing hot sex…

Sometimes you have to walk away from everything to find your heart’s desire.

Lone Wyatt left Colorado for the rodeo circuit, leaving his brother and the woman they both loved to build their lives together. Lone has seen what love can do, and he wants that for himself: one woman who can love him for himself, someone to grow old with and live life to the fullest. One chance visit to a small Oklahoma bar is all it takes to show Lone what he wants.

Charli Kudrow needed to hire someone to help on the ranch. She never dreamed that her hastily posted ad on the bulletin board at the bar would bring a cowboy like Lone into her life. Lone sees something in Charli, a spark of loneliness and a gentle beauty he wants to know better. Charli knows getting involved with the younger cowboy is not her wisest choice, but when hearts get involved, all bets are off. Can Charli accept all that Lone has to offer her? Lone knows he’ll have to break down the walls to Charli’s heart and find a way in. These two deserve a happy-ever-after. Now they simply have to find their way.

Lone Heart is the delicious follow up to Delilah Devlin’s previous book about the Wyatt brothers, True Heart. The characters are well crafted and the world is a realistic depiction of country life found on ranches throughout the west. This is the story of one determined cowboy going after what he wants; a man who refuses to take no for an answer, and doesn’t plan on failing in his quest. I love where Ms Devlin took this story, away from the predictable course and into this world of fun and hot cowboy sex.

Charlene ‘Charli’ Kudrow is a woman who is merely coasting. Widowed after losing the love of her life, she has drifted into a rut, and has let life sort of pass her by. She’s determined to keep her ranch, working hard, side by side with her late husband’s best friend as the only man in her life. She’s tired and lonely, yet, afraid to look for more out of life. I loved how Charli was willing to grab what Lone was offering, even when she thought it would be temporary. She’s old enough to know better and therefore determined to make him work for it, every step of the way.

Lone Wyatt is a handsome devil, sure of himself and determined to make a life for himself away from Colorado. He’s seen what love can do, and he wants to find someone for himself. Lone is a charmer. He knew right away that Charli was going to be important to him. He impressed me with his determination to have her get to know him. It would take a man like Lone to break through the wall Charli had built and help heal her heart.

Ms. Devlin has written a luscious love story, filled with new beginnings and passions reawakened. The conversations between Lone and Charli are delightful and show the simple joy these two find in each other’s company. I had to smile at Charli’s sass and that Lone was mature enough to see through it to Charli’s true feelings. Of course, this couldn’t be Delilah Devlin without some hot and sizzling cowboy sex. Lone Heart has plenty of that to warm even the coldest night. This book can be read as a stand alone, but reading True Heart adds so much to the enjoyment and background. I will warn you to keep the cold drinks close at hand. Appropriately named, Lone Heart has loads of heat and heart to spare.
