Dino Martini is an old-school P.I. in a modern age. Sure, he may do most of his work on a computer, but he carries a gun, drives a convertible, and lives on the beach. Best friend and mechanic Seth Donnelly will back him in a fight, and there’s not a lot more Dino could ask from life.

Until his world is turned upside down.

A dangerous case and a new apartment are just the start. His friendship with Seth has turned into a romance, only Dino has never had a boyfriend before. Can he handle this sudden twist? Just as he begins to believe it’s possible, he loses Seth in more ways than one…

Combine a southern Florida setting with an old fashioned PI who happens to start eyeing his best friend in a less than platonic way and you have a fabulous story mixing mystery and romance at its best.

This is a fabulous story giving great, classic characters with a wonderful mystery and pretty hot romance. Dino is definitely old-fashioned in his ways and language, referring to the older women in his new apartment building as classy broads or dames and worrying that the eight year age difference between himself and Seth means the younger man will tire of him rather fast. Their relationship is delightful and fun, while being realistic and never overwhelming or over the top. Seth’s fun and outrageous personality keep him as a scene-stealer just as his loyalty and devotion to Dino show his depth beyond the flirtatious come on lines.

The mystery element of the story is also surprisingly well crafted and while the resolution is predictable, that’s not the point. The author has created a great mystery that focuses on how Dino gets from the beginning to the end rather than just the final answer. Each step and clue along the way is realistic and understandable, showing the diligent investigative work that is not always glamorous or exciting but necessary to getting through each step. The author does however keep the story moving and interesting without being boring or bland, even when the work itself is not always action packed. The final resolution felt authentic and a good solution to the problems presented, while leaving the clear potential for future stories.

From beginning to end, this story delivers on all levels. The romance, mystery, characters, writing, and setting all combine to give a great, entertaining story that will have you begging for a sequel.
