Home is the sequel to the popular story Broken, and one that can be read alone but it shouldn’t be. In the previous book, Eli had been stuck in his grief following the bashing death of his partner. With Alec’s patient and careful help, Eli was able to move beyond that and enter a new relationship. Home follows that to the next level as the two finally get together with some steamy sex scenes. The characters develop and grow more, although there are considerable issues. Eli comes across more needy and somewhat tiring as he consistently has problem after problem that Alec patiently deals with. Thankfully Alec manages to gain some independence and assert himself other than simply dealing with Eli’s concerns. The secondary cast appears once again with a secondary plot line dealing with Ilsa and Casey’s relationship. There are several parallels between the two relationships, though the secondary one is distracting and annoying and I wish hadn’t been included.

As a sequel, Home succeeds in offering a deeper glimpse into an established relationship. Not all problems are solved once the “I love you”s are exchanged and this story shows that very nicely. The writing is good and the emotional connection between the men makes for a satisfying romance. There are numerous sex scenes too so those waiting to get into Eli and Alec’s bedroom will have their fill. This is close to a must read for fans and those who read the first book as I think they’ll want to see these two work things out for a happy ending.
