When Kerri Harris asks her cynical best friend Mitch MacAuley to help her find a husband, Mitch is hesitant to agree. But he’d do anything for his best friend despite his misgivings about marriage and sets her up with some potential mates. But unexpected feelings of jealousy begin to crop up as Mitch’s feelings for his best friend begin to change. Kerri is also confused by the change in her feelings toward Mitch as she begins to see him in a different light. Soon the two cross the line from friends to friends-with-benefits, but neither is quite sure that will be enough for either of them and fear losing their best friend forever.

Mitch and Kerri are very different from one another, but I really enjoyed their easy relationship and camaraderie with one other…a relationship that changes as they both begin to feel an attraction for one another. Kerri wants something very different in a relationship than Mitch, who is a bit cynical about marriage because of his profession as a divorce attorney and because of his parents, which I could understand. But the passion between him and Kerri is hard for him to deny and a friends-with-benefits relationship is definitely not enough for him.

Kerri is also fascinating as she wants marriage and love, but is unsure about how to go about attaining that goal. It was interesting to me that she asked Mitch to help her find someone, but it demonstrated the trust she had in him. But she is confused by her changing feelings for Mitch and fights her growing attraction as long as she can, but the sexual tension between the two heats up the pages and their sexual compatibility is obvious in the many passion-filled love scenes, including a scene that will change the way you look at yoga. I am still fanning myself over that one.

In addition to the story involving Kerri and Mitch, there is also a secondary storyline involving Kerri’s quest for respect from her sister and family that I felt tied in nicely with her search for love and marriage and the relationship that develops between her and Mitch.

With great characters and sexual tension and passion that burns, Friends with Benefits is a great story that I would definitely recommend.
