Who can resist a pint-sized female with luscious curves stranded in a parking lot? Not Josh McMann. It’s his pleasure to save Ness Bowen, especially given the instant sensual chemistry that explodes between them. When she wrecks her car on the way to meet him for dinner, he saves her once again. And dinner at home takes on a whole new meaning as the sexual pull becomes too strong for either to ignore. The more they see each other, the more intense and erotic the sex becomes.

But Ness sees Josh as a player, and she’s been dumped by men like him who were always looking for the next conquest. Josh has his own trust issues, having been burned by women interested only in his money and power.

When a breakfast date goes awry and Ness thinks she’s been dumped once again, it takes a lot of fancy maneuvering from Josh to make amends.

White knight to the rescue! This hero makes you want to park your car next to fire hydrants and in handicap parking spaces, just so he will come save you on his white steed. YUM!

Josh McMann is sex on a stick, tall, gorgeous, rich and fun. All those attributes are his downfall, too. He feels destined to never know what is truly in a woman’s heart, because he believes all they ever see is his pretty face and especially his thick wallet. He’s forever the gentleman and ever one to help those in need. He keeps an emotional distance from the women he dates. Getting hurt once was enough for him.

Ness Bowen has had it with men. All they see is a corporate bigwig and they think her endgame is the same as theirs–hot, wild, no strings attached sex. After all, why would such a strong independent woman want more? Well she has just had it! No more arrogant self serving men for her. She would rather go without then deal with men like that anymore.

After a week pure craziness, Ness has become what she hates most; a whiney, whimpering bimbo who has to rely on a man. Oh, and not just any man, one that is the poster child for the type of man she must avoid at all costs, Josh McMann. These two damaged souls have just been thrown together and their mutual attraction is too hot to ignore. The past is sometimes hard to overcome and the road is not always an easy one.

At times Ness’ attitude was a bit much, but considering her past it was understandable. I admired Josh’s ability to grab hold of what he wants, even though his fears run deep. While both of these people have been hurt, I commend him for trying the hardest in the relationship. I loved that he got past his fears. He was not afraid to take what he wanted and to follow his heart. He is a treasure among men.

I’m not sure how Desiree Holt does it but she has an adept ability to bring depth and dimensions to her characters. You read her books believing that yes, this could really happen. She captures the essence of emotions and feelings superbly. That is quite an accomplishment considering most of her stories are not full length novels. To be able to draw a reader into the story in such a small amount of time; making them vested in the outcome, is a talent that shouldn’t be missed. Ms. Holt consistently captures my attention and has never disappointed me.

Erected is a wonderful short story. It’s not too deep or thought provoking. It’s an entertaining read about two people on the road to recovery and love. There were moments of laughter and anguish, but all-in-all it’s a story about finding love and holding on to it.
