Egan is the last of the Lisander brothers to find his fire companion. Truth be told, he’s known who it is for some time, but she seems to be a bit resistant to his charms. As a matter of fact, the lovely ferret shifter, Mireya, has flat out refused to even date him. His inner dragon is pushing Egan to claim her soon, but how can he do that when Mireya won’t even stay in the same room with him? Will Egan be able to convince Mireya she is more than just another woman to him? Can a water dragon and a ferret find happiness under the sea?
Celia Kyle has written an entertaining and charming romance. Her creations, both Egan and Mireya, are absolutely marvelous. Mireya is a strong female, but feels less than perfect compared to others. You see it when Egan picks her up and she keeps telling him she is too heavy for him. But Egan finally convinces her that she is everything he has been waiting for in a mate. She has also been confused about what being his mate means, and is afraid of being “bound” to him.
Egan is so anxious to make things work, he even asks the mates of his brothers for advice. Whether he follows that advice or not, he does seek help. I loved the interaction between the two main characters in this story. Ms. Kyle made you see past the characters differences and into their hearts and minds. And the steamy action in the truck, the elevator and other places is really imaginative.
If you want a hot short story to curl your toes, this one is definitely for you. But be warned: there is definitely a giggle factor with this one.
