Ace knows what Hope’s up to and has to convince her that he’s the wrong man for her before she ends up breaking his heart. He’s too dark, too possessive for someone as bubbly as she is, but she just won’t take no for an answer. In a moment of weakness he can’t afford, he gives in, only to find that one taste of her just isn’t enough.
Hope’s elated that her plan finally seems to be working, but she can’t convince him that she needs all of him, including those dark needs he tries so hard to keep hidden.
Can she convince him that not only is she more than ready to handle those needs, but she has some dark desires of her own, ones that only he can fulfill?
Take a pregnant wife, throw in a stalker, vehicular hit and runs, and random attacks on property and persons and you have an exciting who-done-it in this fifth book in the Desire Oklahoma Series.
Ace Tyler is now the sheriff of Desire, and doesn’t think he is good enough for any decent woman. Ace is portrayed as having dark desires but I could see by his interactions with Hope, he was committed to bringing her happiness even if it meant that he would not have Hope for himself. This is easier thought than done, especially when the woman is as determined as Hope Sanderson.
Hope, along with her sister Charity, own Lady Desire, a club for the women of Desire, Oklahoma. Men have their own club so Hope thought it only fair that the women should also. I liked that Hope was very outspoken and extremely blunt in what she wants from Ace. I could totally see how she would speed constantly to get Ace to stop her and to punish her. I would think that if you don’t like the way of life in Desire, you just wouldn’t live there. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case. Like sheriffs of old, Ace does his best to catch the bad guys and rescue the damsels in distress but like all great stories, we are left with cliff-hangers. Things are never dull in Desire.
Dark Desire is an exciting addition to the Desire Oklahoma series. It brought back some of my favorite characters from previous books and expanded their characters’ roles so much that I hope for more stories in this fascinating series. Dare I hope that Charity’s story is coming soon?
