I felt that the time devoted to their back story was necessary and added to the emotional depth of the work, and enjoyed the time shared between Grant and Cade especially.
My only complaint is the way the aftermath is handled as it felt rushed and forced, but given the length of the work and the source material, I could understood why it ended as it did. The writing itself is very good, and dialogue is the perfect combination of naughty and sweet.
