Being a longtime fan of the Steam Punk Genre I jumped at the opportunity to immerse myself again in this realm of the fantastic.
Regina Riley has taken all of the mystery and majesty of the genre and molded it into a fantastic tale. Filled with strong women, who any girl could look up to, handsome savages, who any woman would dream about, and a mysterious plot to take over the world, this story is a truly delightful read.
Of the characters in this tale I think the sweet Gabriella is my favorite. But then again I freely admit that I am strange. Still, this book and it’s interesting cast of characters will appeal to many.
Clockworks and Corsets is a great read. The story flows well and though not directly integral to the main story the erotic scenes are steamy and surprisingly well-worded. I love the fact that Ms Riley uses shipping and nautical terms in her erotic scenes. That may sound odd but I assure you that after you read Clockworks and Corsets you will never look at the terms “Vessel” and “Down below” the same way.
I now have yet another series that I must wait impatiently for the next volume. And waiting I will be.
