This short story is incredibly powerful and moving. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the single priest is not given a name until the very end. He struggles as the one person left with hope, faith, and love yet he has his own darkness. After losing his brother and his lover, the priest feels alone in a world gone mad. People are torturing and killing the angels out of fear, anger, and hatred. The story is about the uplifting nature of belief and hope at the darkest times, yet never feels religious or preachy. It’s really human nature and written so beautifully it can’t help but move you.
