May’s been lusting after Chase Campbell forever. Her brain goes dirty instantly with this man. Just controlling the urge to knock him down and climb aboard is a struggle. So when he shows up for their first date and May realizes she’s ovulating and is about to become a sexual booby trap, she panics.

See, Chase doesn’t know she’s a shifter. Yet. She hasn’t quite gotten to that part. So now all she has to do is this—go on the date, not look directly at him, not touch him, no kissing, no hugging. Tada! Easy.

Until he touches her. Then touches her some more. And then she touches him and… Well, this isn’t going to be easy at all. Damn.

Also a little sex was nice.” Yeah, that just about describes May’s mentality when she agrees to go out on a date with the oh so gorgeous Chase Campbell. Hmm, a bobcat shifter in her heat cycle, oozing “come and get me” pheromones on a date with a man she’s extremely attracted to…what could go wrong??

Okay, this was one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while and it all centers around a very anxious and hormonally imbalanced female bobcat shifter. May Hughes is mild mannered proofreader on a normal day but an “ovulating booby trap” on this particular day or date as the case may be.

The little mental pep talks she gives herself kept me laughing from the first page to the last. Poor May tries her best to fight her urge to jump the unsuspecting Chase in human form much less in bobcat skin and even goes to extremes to rid her body of the built up tension. She actually gets a seriously funny lisp when she is just about to lose all control of her inner kitty. Chase is a sweetheart of a hero and does an admirable job of keeping his cool when faced with an obviously neurotic date but since he is keeping his own secrets I guess he has reason to show some patience. I don’t want to tell you too much because this is a short story but it is so worth the read.

I’ve read several books by Ms. Marsden and the witty dialogue and fun engaging characters seem to be a hallmark of her writing style. She may just be the queen of the double entendre. She has made a sincere fan of this reviewer and I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for her next installment.

  1. This sounds like lots of fun! It took me a minute to focus on the words though. Couldn’t get my eyes off the chest!
