All Tied Up! – Nina Pierce

I write erotic romance. No it’s not porn. No it’s not smut. At the core … it’s a love story. A journey meant to sweep you off your feet and make you sigh. The kind of story that warms your heart.

But here’s the difference … the bedroom door is WIIIIIDE open! The reader gets to watch while this couple explores their feelings for one another in the most intimate of acts. A place where trust is tested and loving bonds are formed.

And what could push the boundaries of intimacy and trust more than BDSM? That push and pull of power given for the promise of passion and pleasure? The confidence that, while bound and at the mercy of a flogger, your partner will 1) respect your pain threshold and 2) bring you as much satisfaction as they take. Wow, those are really high expectations.

Trust me when I say that writing erotic romance with a BDSM theme is one of the most challenging projects I’ve taken on. It’s not about humiliation or control. It’s about two people willingly taking and giving for mutual fulfillment and ultimately … love.

So what do you think? Does BDSM push you too far as a reader? Or have you willingly taken the leap to enjoy the fantasy?

My newest release from Ellora’s Cave, MAID FOR MASTER, is the story of one woman’s journey to discover her deepest desires and the one man willing to fulfill them.

Treat herself to a carnal weekend at the hedonistic retreat, XTC Resorts? That’s not something Claire Calderwood, a three-time loser in the relationship department, would ordinarily do. But at forty-one, having a successful cleaning business is no longer enough. She wants a chance to let go of all responsibility, submit to a stranger’s sexual demands and satisfy her darkest fantasies.

Jonathon Brierton has known his best friend’s sister long enough to recognize her submissive nature. He would like nothing more than to have Claire bound naked and at the mercy of his flogger as he teaches her the sensual art of obeying her Master. At thirty-something, he’s a successful real estate developer, owner of a BDSM resort—and hopelessly in love with the older woman.

When Claire follows him to his resort, Jonathon is certain he can keep his identity secret long enough to convince her that being restrained in his stocks is something that will satisfy them both. But lies, deceit and broken hearts may not be so easy to overcome.

Jesus. Even though Jonathon Brierton wasn’t particularly religious he prayed for Divine intervention. Not that he wanted any lightning strikes or halos of light illuminating the shadowed corner of the club where he’d hidden himself, but a little more help in the patience department would certainly go a long way at the moment. It went against his baser nature to sit back and wait rather than walking over and convincing the copper-haired beauty leaning over the railing across the way to put on his collar and join him in one of the private dungeons below.

She was a natural submissive. He felt it in every fiber of his being. Claire Calderwood just didn’t know it—or at the very least—was unwilling to accept that part of herself. Jon just needed to come up with a plan of action that didn’t scare the living shit out of her to convince her she needed this—and him.

“Are you too focused on your next conquest to be good company?” Ethan Jacobs, the manager of the XTC Resorts here in Key West, didn’t really need an invitation and slid into the padded chair next to Jon without waiting for an answer. His crisp white shirt and the knife-edged creases of his black dress pants were in sharp contrast to the yards of leather and miles of naked flesh displayed by most of the patrons of Paradise Cove. “You weren’t exaggerating, my friend. She is exquisite.”

He didn’t need to ask whom Ethan referred to. The manager had personally checked Claire and Jon into their separate suites earlier in the day. “And scared,” Jon said. Even from this distance he could see it play across the tremble of Claire’s lips and the nervous fingers toying with her hair. He’d expected that. It just grated that he could do nothing at the moment to help her overcome it.

“But she’s here tonight and completely mesmerized by the scene in the public dungeon.”

“Only step one, my friend.” Jon pulled his gaze from Claire. There was no sense torturing himself. It would be a half-hour or more before the Doms and subs in the open arena below would finish playing out their scenes. Their interactions were intense, and he had no doubt the private rooms one floor below would be filled with eager players following the show. He intended to be in one of them with Claire. He had the room already reserved and set up for her. Until then, he needed to bide his time. “And there is the small detail of her not knowing exactly who I am,” Jon added quietly.

  6. I don’t think BDSM pushes me too far as a reader and I’ve read several well written BDSM stories and enjoyed them:)

Will add “Maid for Master” to my tbb list.

  7. I love stories where there is already a relationship and caring for the parties involved. This sounds so wonderful

  8. love them all and would read them and blog on them for you hint hint

  9. Someones been naughty. I definitely think BDSM is for a certain reader, not everyone will be comfortable reading this.

  10. Hales – This one was a TON of fun to write. So darn naughty!

  11. Shauna – I hope you enjoy it! I’m writing a sequel to this story as we speak!

  12. I’ll have to read this one! I’ve noticed lately that I tend to read paranormals or books with bdsm in them.

  13. Jean – Perfect to read out loud to your Valentine tomorrow. 😉 (Hopefully it’ll give you a few kinky ideas!)

  14. Cathy – LOL! This wasn’t a hard leap for me to make! I really love the push and pull of power in a BDSM romance.

  15. Carol – I hope you enjoy it!

  16. Maria – As with every other genre, there are degrees of BDSM. Mine lean toward the “sweet” side of bondage and spanking. I have read a couple that made me a little uncomfortable, but that line is different for everyone.

  17. Crystal – Friends to lovers is one of my favorite themes for romance stories. Tying up my heroine was just an added bonus! 😉

  18. Desi – I’d love to have someone blog on them. I’m always looking for reviews on Amazon and the EC website.

  19. Elie – That is so true. Even readers of erotic romance don’t always care for the BDSM relationship. But as I said, my story is on the “mild” side. It might be a good first venture into the BDSM genre for a new reader.

  20. Amy – I do hope you pick this one up and that you enjoy it. I do have several paranormal titles as well. Check out my website www. NinaPierce . com

  21. I love reading BDSM. It doesn’t push me too far. The only time that I’ve had an issue about BDSM is when a sub has had an extremely bad experience and it was shown in a backflash. It was a sub’s worst nightmare.

Looking forward to reading Maid for Master

  22. Michaela – Those are hard to read, but it sure does up the ante for a sub who’s trying to find their own way back after a bad experience. Makes finding love with the right Dom all that much sweeter … don’t you think?

  23. Definitely. I also absolutely love stories where the Dom is unsure of taking on another sub for whatever reason, and then finds the ultimate sub. For me the love between Dom and Sub is amazing and fulfilling

  24. Michaela – As a writer, I’m all about the happy ending so ultimately my stories are all romance. I just wouldn’t be fulfilled as a reader or a writer if the hero and heroine didn’t ride off into the sunset together.

  25. Funny you should say that, I’m reading a series now, Steig Larsson’s, (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire, and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) and it’s the first time I did NOT want the hero and heroine to end up together. Granted it’s not a romance genre even though the heroine does fall in love with the hero. But for the most part I totally agree with you. I have to have a HEA.

  26. Michaela – This is soooo off topic *g* (but I’ll go with it anyway) … My extended family LOVED that series. Me? Not so much. I literally slogged through the first book unable to care about either hero or heroine. So I haven’t even attempted the other two. I feel like I’m missing something because so many people have fallen in love with them. Perhaps I really am a hard core romance reader? I don’t know. *g*

  27. It’s possible. I used it as a break from my romance/erotic reading. The unrequited makes for great turbulence to the plot, so I like the use of it. *g*

However in the end, nothing can replace great erotic/romance story – either M/F or M/M – and that’s what I go back to use as my escape.

  28. Michaela – I just thought the story was a whole lot of rambling. I’m tempted to rent the movie to see if I like the story any better. (Psst … I didn’t even finish it with 75 pages to go … I feel so bad, but I just couldn’t. LOL!)

  29. Oh wow! By that point I had to finish it. The beginning, enduring his world building, was difficult for me. However I persevered and glad I did. The second and the third books are much better imo because they are connected and the tird picks up where the second one ended.

  30. Nina – you should do the movies and see what you think. Everyone I know who has read them are buying the three pack when it’s released later this month

  31. enjoying these excerpts today!

  32. Michaela – See? It makes me so sad that I didn’t just LOVE these books. *sigh* perhaps I’ll give the second one a try and see where that takes me.

  33. Di – Thank you so much for taking time to read them!

  34. Nina, do try them again and let me know what you think. I really hope you do have a better time second time around 😉

  35. Michaela – You’ve convinced me. I’ll give them another try.
