There’s nothing more unsettling than reading about a story with a plot line that’s actually happened in real life, and other parts so true to our modern society that could happen any time, and any place. In this case, what happens when a simple thing like the power goes out?

It’s a page turner, and like any good story, got me thinking about what I’d do in the hero’s situation. However, I would have felt more connection to Matt whose the point of view character if the author would have made this story longer, giving us more of a sense of who he is, husband, father etc. before the crisis begins and he has to struggle to make his way home.

Besides that I liked the dialogue and yes, it’s got very fast pacing so you find yourself reading on without putting the book down.

The cover says Book 1 so I’m not sure if Mr. Carleton intends to continue with more near disaster books or even this character, but if that’s the case, I’d certainly like to read them.
