Clockwork Romance is a steampunk m/m set in Victorian London. The writing is a mixture of past and present and the characters, Arthur and Lord Percival are full of manners, propriety and there’s plenty of hidden undercurrents in their dialogue.

Lord Percival becomes acquainted with watchmaker Arthur as he suspects he’d been stealing from his uncle and is determined to get to the bottom of the situation. While doing so though he builds up a tentative friendship with Arthur that soon becomes and attraction and the suggestion of more. But can he ever admit their feelings?

Arthur is a thief, which could make it hard to like one of the protagonists in Clockwork Romance, but he’s also a bit like Robin Hood, stealing from the rich to help the poor, so he’s quickly forgiven in the readers eyes. Arthur’s thoughts soon turn from creating watches to dreaming of Lord Percival.

I enjoyed the world Ms Dragen created for her story. It’s shadowy and real yet still fantastical. The men are in interesting combination of contradiction, wanting each other but afraid to show it and their romance is a slow bloom that I became invested in and was happy to see blossom in the most sexy of ways.

In summary, Clockwork Romance is a nice short m/m story to lose yourself in over a cup of coffee. The writing is easy to read, the plot kept me turning the pages and the main characters were likeable and sexy. I’d read more by this author.
