What’s Popular and What’s Not – What We’re Told to Like with @wendizwaduk #Iamwatchingmovies #movies #popular

I love to watch movies. Love to. If there’s a movie that’s a little off beat, then I’m there. I want to see it. One that comes to mind right away is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It takes some doing to watch the movie. It’s strange. It’s different and you either like it or you don’t. Another movie like that is Stranger Than Fiction. Will Ferrell’s life is taken over by a writer. The moment he gives his lady love the ‘flours’ because she bakes… it just gets me. It’s a different movie. Will Ferrell isn’t playing for laughs. The same thing goes for Eternal Sunshine. Jim Carey isn’t going for the silly laughs.

I just watched Eternal Sunshine yesterday and it got me thinking about movies. It’s marketing. The studios want us to see the movies. Obviously. They make money when we go to the movies. But they know which ones to push hardcore. Tying into fast food kid meals, freebies given away if you attend the movie, free tickets, product marketing – buy this gum and you can earn points for tickets – things like that. They want us to see certain movies.

When The Conspirator came out, I had no idea the movie was out. I only heard about it because it was up for awards and Robert Redford directed it. Otherwise…it might have disappeared, at least for me. The Beguiled comes to mind, too. It’s a dark, Gothic movie that I wouldn’t have watched, had it not been for Colin Farrell. Okay, I admit it. He was the draw. Him in period clothes…yeah, I’m there. But the movie was good. There were commercials for it, but they were…odd. I didn’t get the main idea of the movie from them. Odd, right?

I guess that’s why I’m odd, too. I like what no one else tends to like. I write for me and hope the readers like what I’ve written. I don’t like to write to trend. Careless Whisper, below, doesn’t really belong to a trend or category. It’s a ghost story, but it’s a love story, too. It’s odd and strange and I love it. Maybe that’s because I’m a little odd, a little strange and I’m happy that way. I don’t know. What do you think?

Here’s a little bit about Careless Whisper:

Jason Summerfield has finally found the man of his dreams — Greek vampire Julian Kristados, and together, they’re enjoying life in Julian’s mansion on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. Jason’s still going strong with his metal band, Firestarter, and they’re developing a big following throughout the area. Along with the fame, though, Jason has also garnered the attention of a stalker.

When the stalker’s attentions turn mysterious and potentially deadly, Julian seeks the advice of a friend, fellow vampire Gabriel Walsh. They discover the truth behind the stalker, but will they get to Jason in time to save him from forced repayment of an ancestor’s debt?

Life’s never dull when you have the power of fire at your fingertips. Throw in the element of a vampire lover and you have the makings of a Mychael Black story. But this one? It’s also got a great little mystery woven into the plot. Now you indeed have a Mychael Black short story.

As soon as I got the choice, I had to have this audio book. I’ve followed the exploits of Jason, Julian, Jesse and Gabriel and needed to see the latest situation. I knew it would be a hot story and I wasn’t disappointed. Sildenafil citrate of kamagra tablets degrade PDE-5 and promote the other enzyme to keep blood going http://davidfraymusic.com/events/heidelberger-fruhling/ generic levitra from canada on for several hours and certainly not everyone is comfortable taking those big pills too. Think of your ability to function in the world davidfraymusic.com discount levitra as if it is an 8″ apple pie. It would start working as soon as it mixes with blood. viagra sales australia This levitra no prescription report launched a whole new profile of users. I felt like I was right there in the throes of the crowd, dancing along with the roaring tunes, deafened by the music and practically blinded by the pyrotechnics. Being that this was an audio book, I could even feel the rumble of Julian’s voice each time he spoke to Jason. I loved it.

As this is told from Jason’s POV, I didn’t get much of a glimpse into Julian’s thought process, but I think it worked well. There were plot twists that too many POV changes might have complicated the story unnecessarily. I could still feel the tension in Jason as he dealt with the gifts from his mystery person and the passion for Julian when he and Jason made love.

Another thing that made this story stand out for me was the introduction of Gabriel. I loved him in other stories and was pleased to see how he fit into the little band of misfits. Plus, these are characters I don’t want to let go of.

If you want a story that will melt your speakers and leave you begging for more, then you need to get a copy of Blood Curse. I give this book 4.5 cherries.

Jason Summerfield is a lead singer of a local metal band and an all-around, love ‘em and leave ‘em type of guy.

He’s also pyrokinetic. Strong emotions can literally start a fire with him, so he’s always struggled to hold emotions back, unwilling to let his “gift” harm anyone. So far, one-night stands have been the answer.

Then along comes Julian Kristados, a man who turns Jason’s world upside down. When he’s with Julian, Jason finds it impossible to control his fire. When the truth comes out as to why Julian remains unscathed, Jason doesn’t know whether to run… or let the man into his heart.

Until he opens his heart to his gift, he can’t open his heart to the one he loves. Are you intrigued? I was. So I listened to the audio book of Blood and Fire by Mychael Black.

Now I have to admit, when I saw this one on the list, I had to nab it. I’m a Mychael Black fan-girl. This story didn’t disappoint. Mr. Black has a way with words that draws the reader in from page one. Hearing this story read aloud made it even more powerful. I felt like I was right there with Jason and Julian seeing and feeling them find each other in the midst of the chaos of Jason’s life. They just online cialis need to consult with the physician or stand in a queue at the chemist store. I liked the idea that Jason had a gift he really didn’t want, but needed. All those metal/industrial/Goth type bands who pay oodles for pyrotechnics and Jason can do them all on his own. How cool. But I liked that he retained his humanity—he didn’t let the gift define him, even when he could’ve. And although I wasn’t a fan of his destructive behavior, I felt that it made him more realistic as a character. How many guys in popular bands aren’t promiscuous? It made the whole story more believable.

Julian was a conundrum, though. I liked his dark mystique, but I wanted him to show up more fully a tad earlier. I felt like he was almost left out, and forced to watch as a penance, but I understood why he held back. The guy, though a vampire, has been hurt in the past and like all of us, is a tad cautious. Who could fault him that? Not me.

If you want a book that will, pardon the pun, suck you in from the first page, then you need to read or listen to Blood and Fire. I give this story 4.5 cherries.
