Stephanie’s character is one that intrigued and confused me at times. She clearly has a sense of where she wants her life to be and how she wants to get it. This type of discipline is both admirable and a tragedy in one. The tragic part about it is that she never learned how to enjoy life, she goes through it almost robotically. This is something her bosses clearly pickup up on, so they made a bet to see if she truly knew how to lighten up. In the end she clearly found some pleasure in life, but I still had to question if she figured out how to truly enjoy life and what he has to offer.

Aiden and Dane on the other hand seem to be the well rounded men any girl would dream of. That is if you can overlook the fact that they love one another as much as they love women. They both have very unique personalities, but you can also see many similarities about them as well. Dane is the quiet yet demanding type. You don’t need him to say what he wants, you just know. Aiden seems to be the more outspoken and dominant of the two. Even if Dane considers himself dominant it is clear to me that Aiden just has a little extra push to him. Together these are dangerous men who it is clear to me will get whatever they want, even Stephanie.

The BDSM aspect of this story is prevalent from beginning to end. It is a main driving factor to the storyline, and the relationship of all the parties. I truly enjoyed watching Dane and Aiden dominate each other as well as Stephanie. I have to say however, some aspects of Stephanie’s submission left me feeling a bit concerned. One being that she allowed both men to dominate her so easily and completely. I felt like she should have keep a little bit of herself. Another aspect that left me puzzled was Stephanie’s openly willingness to just accept what they said. For such a forward thinking female who was clearly goal driven she just seemed to submit almost immediately, and was unable to tell them no. Again, it just made me question her mental state and if she should even be in that type of relationship. I can say that the BDSM is complete in the story, and far from light BDSM, which I enjoyed. The author even figured out a way to incorporate some knowledge about the lifestyle, which I appreciated.

The sex in the storyline was amazing. Both men agree to not have sex with Stephanie prior to a long term commitment, but that doesn’t stop them from doing everything else, or sleeping with one another. The scenes in this story had me wiggling around in my seat more than a few times. The sexual tension between all parties is felt immediately and continued to the very end.  A great story, especially if you love some hot scenes!

The suspense of who really burned down the bar, and whether or not the men believe her innocence is well done. I had an inkling of the real culprit and I was glad to be proven correct and that the conflict added enough tension to help the three of them realize that they need each other and can’t live in a bubble and have to face life head on.

I definitely recommend this story, I want to read other stories by this author because, despite my early head hopping complaint, that calmed down and I really enjoyed her style so much so I will seek her out in the future.

Julia isn’t sure about this and as the story develops you find out that the girl is a virgin and all of a sudden she wants her first sexual encounter to be with these two strangers she meets at a party. Now, I understand the swinger lifestyle, but that seemed a little much in the suspension of disbelief department.

As the book goes on, you understand that Brad has a lot in the way of family secrets. As Julia becomes more involved with Brad there are mafia entanglements and you have a murder mystery on your hands. There are sex scenes throughout with the edge of danger woven in between the sheets. The witty back and forth between Brad and Julia is spicy, but there are points in the dialog that don’t fit or sound wrong. There is also Julia’s tendency to get mad at Brad for the strangest of reasons. She flips out when he won’t stay at her place but is okay with him in sexual situations with strangers. Go figure. The mafia part also kind of came out of nowhere for me. The story was zinging along and here is a situation where Brad offers Julia marriage to protect her from his family? What? Whoa. Again with the suspension of disbelief. Sexy yes. Swinger…okay. Mafia? Oh no.

Overall, I liked the pace of the book. The repartee was sharp and I liked the idea of the swinger scene. The saving of the virgin from the evil near-rapist was good, but lost me when the grateful young virgin sacrifices her virtue on the altar of “thank you kind sir and madam let’s have sex”. You did get to see Brad deal with his commitment issues and watch as he has some pretty tough decisions to make in regards to his family and Julia. If you like steamy sex with an edge of danger with mafia flair then you will probably enjoy this one.

Or, at least, that’s how it worked for me. By the end of the story, I was quite enamored of him. Malakai’s partner in crime, Felix, on the other hand, I was in love with his quirky self from the first moment I met him.

For me, the only downside to this lovely novel was the point near the end when the gods get involved and things become a bit muddy. I had a hard time keeping what was happening straight. I found myself flipping back a few pages here and there, just to reorient myself.

Fever is an intense, sexy vampire novel that will run you ragged from page one until the end. Filled with surprises, twists, and turns, I found myself constantly being startled by what came next. If you’re looking for a very steamy love story with the added touch of the paranormal, then this is the one for you.

Having just broken up from the evil Gavin, the stranger she pulls in the night club allows her to free herself and let loose the lust that’s been harnessed for so long. It’s a great beginning and the heat and twists and turns in the plot just keep coming and coming and coming.

There are two heroes, Ric and Zach, and I fell for them both. Each are different, and not just in their physical descriptions but in their personalities, their fears, their passion. Like Kara I would not have been able to choose between these two hotties.

The setting, Liddell Island, also captivated me. I could see it clearly in my mind’s eye. The fort, the cliffs, the causeway that blocked it off from the mainland when the tide came in. The author completely transported me there, and like a good book should achieve I was submerged in the landscape and the sights and smell. Oh, and the ice-cream van… I won’t spoil it, but I loved the scenes with that.

The sex is hot, yes, but it is also sensitive, wild, risky and in a couple of scenes boundary pushing. I loved being in all three characters heads as they got it together, it made me feel like I was really part of their gang. I’d love to be able to see the pictures Ric took, that would make my day!

As I said, I’ll be looking out for more by this author. Her writing is accomplished, her voice fresh and at times raw, and her characters came to life from the page into my mind in a seamless bound. Bravo.

It’s the journey that makes reading The Glass Knot such an entertaining read. The part that stands out for me is the seduction of Josh. Ms. Harlem paid attention to details like their eyes, breathing, how certain body parts were affected and her choice of words to describe and show the progression of Josh’s introduction to man/woman love was scorching in its intensity and clarity. It’s the highlight of the whole book.

How the author chose to explore human emotion, passion and the problems it can cause when it’s overwhelming was also a testimony to quality writing. It’s a sticky wicket when trying to balance and mesh a potential new love in with an established way of being and living. I think Ms. Harlem handled that whole process well. People make mistakes and having the courage to stand up and be accountable takes a certain level of bravery many people lack. I enjoyed how the author had her characters handle it.

I liked the chemistry between all of the protagonists. My only complaint has to do with Laura. As much as she claims to be handling her life and doing well, I didn’t find that believable at all. How she handled the water debacle in her residence did not impress me. In fact, it made what Josh and Nick did perfectly reasonable. I’m of the impression that if they hadn’t come into her life, Ms. Laura was going to experience an epic failure and a serious blow to her self-esteem. She came across as a wimp and a ditz. As much as I kind of understood her ire when the men acted like over chivalrous knights, they were justified in their actions. I believe those scenes with Laura and that particular crisis point was the only thing I wasn’t happy about in the whole book. The saving grace was the men’s ability and willingness to communicate. In that, the story line was true to life.

For readers who look for quality ménage descriptions, actions and variety of sensual pleasures, Ms. Harlem delivers. The Glass Knot isn’t a story about sex with little reason; it’s a story that gives a reason for the sex. It’s the best one – love. Josh, Nick and Laura do explore their budding love in all ways physical but in each encounter a reader sees their bonds and connection grow and strengthen. That is when passionate and explicit love works – when the emotions are truly involved and the reader is vested in those emotions. Ms. Harlem was effective in capturing that and sharing it with her readers.

The Glass Knot is everything an erotic romance should be. Readers are getting a treat when they choose this book because the story and romance is solid. I’m glad I read it and credit Ms. Harlem for providing me a wonderful reading experience.

I especially enjoyed the scene where Tabby meets Warner (what a hunk!) and they both are instantly attracted to each other. Their first seduction scene is very HOT and sensual in the middle of the VIP section of a very exclusive club. These two characters are strong, possessive, and dominant. After realizing this, I knew this story would test their limits and resolves. This is not the usual boy meets girl, etc. romance format. It is full of romance, passion, and yet jocularity.

My only regret is that these characters spend so much of their energy in the chase and I wish the author had given us more of their romance. On the other hand, it provides for an increase in adrenaline waiting for the moment when these two characters must clash.

If you have not read Undressed (The Manhattanites book #1) by Avery Aster, you do not have to read it before reading this book (though, why wouldn’t you want to?). This standalone novel will leave you hooked on this series of stories. You will laugh, cry, and yes cheer at their antics. Looking forward to reading book #3 from this author.

And I’ve always been a sucker for a Masquerade story – something about the secrecy and romance always captures my imagination and this author did that scene justice.

When you only have a little while this is an excellent, quick read, sure to set the mood and have you panting for more. The characters have real attachments to each other, and the connection between them is both tender and smoking hot. A great read.
