Top Ten Tuesday: Books with Pink or Purple on the Cover

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday!  This week’s topic is books with a favorite color on the cover.  My favorite colors are pink and purple.  I could browse lists filled with gorgeous pink and purple book covers for hours.  However, I decided to limit myself to books I actually have on my shelves at home, which was more difficult than I anticipated.  Here’s what I came up with.

The Two Towers by J.R.R. Tolkien-I’ve never been fond of this cover despite it being purple.  It just doesn’t seem to do the story contained inside justice.

9501471

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen-Again while it is a pretty color, this is another cover I have that doesn’t match the story.

1892635

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot-It doesn’t get much more pink than this!

38980

Undead and Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson

421129

Undead and Uneasy by Mary Janice Davidson-I liked the covers for this series up until this book.  Then they changed the design and now they don’t match.

  1. Such cute covers! I really liked reading the sookie stackhouse series.

    • Poinsettia says

Thank you! Yes, I enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I must admit I was not happy with how it ended. Thank you for reading my post and commenting. 🙂

  2. Ooh The Two Towers- nice! Although I agree- not a great LotR cover lol. I kinda like the Northanger Abbey one, and Don’t Push the Button is cute!

    • Poinsettia says

Yes, I’ve always wished my LotR covers were more epic looking, but they are what they are. Don’t Push the Button is pure fun. Thanks for coming by and commenting!

  3. Wellingtons Rainy Day looks so cute! The dog is adorable!

  4. Great list! I’m slightly colourblind, so I had to stare at that cover of The Two Towers for a few moments before I could see that it’s purple and not blue! There are some beautiful pink and purple covers out there, and The Princess Diaries covers have always been fun. It’s so frustrating when the covers of a series change halfway through – it’s so much more satisfying when you have a matching set on your shelves!

    • Poinsettia says

Yes, it is frustrating when covers in a series don’t match! I’m glad to know I’m glad to know I’m not the only one with this issue. Cover designs not matching is one thing, but sometimes a well meaning soul will get me a book in a series I’m reading, and it will be a different cover, and different size from the rest of the series. That sort of drives me crazy as well.

Thank you for visiting and commenting!

    • Poinsettia says

  13. The Two Towers is one of my favorite books ever, but you’re right– that cover design definitely doesn’t do the novel justice! Great list 🙂

  14. Don’t push that button is one of my 4 year old’s favorite books. It’s such a fun one to read.

    • Poinsettia says

I feel the same way about Princess Diaries! The movies were a lot of fun too. Thanks for visiting. 🙂

  28. Yeah The Two Towers cover isn’t pretty despite the purple. But so very much like all the covers for fantasy in those days. I’m so glad that has changed haha.

    • Poinsettia says

I agree that fantasy cover designs have improved drastically! As you can see from the Goodreads info, my book was printed in the mid 90s, well before some much more attractive covers were designed.

Thank you for visiting and commenting! 🙂

  29. I do like purples. I have a few of these on my shelves 🙂 Sookie, Betsy, Anita. Good times 🙂
