Today, we welcome Author Nancy Adams to Long and Short Reviews. Let’s give her a great big LASR welcome.

Thanks for having me today.

I have some questions for you that are writer specific as well as some fun stuff so that we can really get to know the real you. *grin* Plus we will finish things off with round of Think Fast. Ready to begin?

Yup! Just let me slide on my glasses, don’t mind the tape. *wink*

Tell us something about yourself that’s not in your bio.

Hmmm. Well I don’t like swimming in a lake without something on my feet. The though of something – like reeds or a HAND!!! – reaching up and touching my feet *shiver* freaks me out!
Oh and I hate Tuna casserole, frozen pizza and Rice a Roni.
Rice a Roni…yuck! I don’t care what they say in San Francisco, that stuff is NOT a treat!

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

I love to read, usually at night in bed when the house is nice and quiet. I also enjoy taking my beast (aka my German Shedder) out for his daily walk and just recently, I’ve discovered many hours of joy getting hooked on the TV show Weeds.
Pssst…I heard it’s a gateway show.

How did you choose the genres you write in?

I didn’t choose it. Okay that’s not entirely true. I choose the romance part. The erotic part came after my book was excepted by Total-E-Bound. I was told by my editor at the time that I needed to smut it up. So I did. As for the other genres, like time travel and paranormal, I let them pick me. Much more fun that way.

Is there any particular author or book that has influenced you or your writing?

I wouldn’t say influenced, I mean I never set out to be a writer and I certainly didn’t have any desire to write a book after I read these authors but I am drawn to their work, they are very good at what they do.
Oh and by the way, I don’t have just one, it’s more like many. John Saul, Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsey, Dean Koontz…do you see the trend…Romance and the bizarre. Yup that’s me. lol

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?

Toughest criticism…probably my spelling. I truly believe my SPELL CHECK was invented for me.

What has been the best compliment?

I love when people tell me the laughed at a joke or a comment in my story. It’s nice knowing other get my sense of humor.

If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, fictional or real, who would it be and why?

That’s easy, Maureen O’Hara. I would love and sit and hear about her life and maybe absorb some of that feisty spirit. I have a hunch it will merge splendidly with my own. lol

You are going to be stranded on a deserted island and bring 3 luxury items. What would they be?

My pillow, my lavender body spray, and a giant Cadbury’s Chocolate bar. Milk chocolate NOT dark. Oh! And it has to be English chocolate, it tastes so much better than the stuff over here in Canada.

Pick two celebrities to be your parents. Who are they and why?

John Wayne and Rita Hayworth.

John Wayne would teach me how to handle all the men that would be knocking on my door because of the great looks I got from Rita. *sigh* That would be awesome.

What would we find in your refrigerator right now?

LOL Okay…let me go have a peek…milk, OJ, apples, leftover butternut squash soup, left over chicken soup, can of dog food, yogurt and Sriracha Hot Chili sauce. Yikes! I’m pretty boring in the food department.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

Lavender, Linens, and IKEA…Obsession or Addiction?

Think Fast

Summer or Winter? Summer
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Cake or Pie? CAKE!!!!
Car or Truck? Jeep
Print or Electronic? Print

Thanks for coming by and spending some time with us. Any final words of wisdom to pass along?

Never judge a person until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. Unless those shoes are a pair of $500 Jimmy Choos’, then grab those suckers and run like hell.

About the Author:12_19 AuthorPicMy name is Nancy Adams. I am a full-blooded Canadian, right down to the maple syrup running though my veins. I enjoy watching hockey but despise skating…and the cold. I enjoy a good helping of Tourtiere with a side of Poutine as much as the next person, yet I am only bilingual when it comes to swear words.Besides writing, I have three small – but legal – addictions: bed linens, lavender and books. All of which are replenished on a regular basis. Reading into the wee hours of the morning is one of my many bad habits, next to spontaneously rearranging furniture and randomly painting rooms in my house.

12_19 Cover_No Matter WhenStanding on the battlements of a 16th century Keep was the last place Gabriel Sutherland should be. Then again, being ‘shifted’ to 1503 seconds before a rocket blew his ass to bits wasn’t something he had envisioned either. Still, he was surviving the only way he knew how, as a soldier. Then Lilly arrived. Sweet, innocent Lilly. For a genetically superior soldier whose life had entailed of nothing but serving King and country, the arrival of Lilly proves too much for Gabe to ignore. For the first time in his life, Gabe can have a woman of his own and Lilly is the one.

Lilly Marten lives alone, her quiet life the result of a highly sensitive photographic memory. That changed when she arrived in the year 1503 seconds before Toronto’s popular C.N Tower came crashing down on top of her. Now she was never alone. Gabe was always near. With his unbelievably perfect features and intense green eyes, he is not a man easily ignored. Yet, uncertainty about her new life leaves Lilly with no choice but to put faith in a man she fears and whose strong physical presence causes her to desire more than just his trust.

I’m glad my additions are only Lavender and bed sheets, if it was shoes, I’d be screwed and…probably living in a matching set of cardboard boxes. One for me and one for my shoes. lol
Have a great Christmas, Mary and a Happy New Year!

  10. Like you, I am not a lake swimmer! When my parents moved to a lakeside home when I was 17, I never went swimming in it. The bottom was mucky, there were fish in it, and duck & goose POO. Give me a pool with a firm bottom and lots of chemicals! LOL.
