Long and Short Reviews welcomes T.A. Chase who is with us today to celebrate the upcoming re-release of Blindsided.
Hey everyone! I’m T.A. Chase and I’m thrilled to be guest blogging here today. I have a re-release coming out at Dreamspinner co-authored with my marvelous writing partner, Devon Rhodes. But I don’t want to talk about that. You can check Blindsided out at Dreamspinner’s coming soon page.
I’m here to talk about my Top 5 favorite books. Now I could do Top 5 of all time, but that would take way longer then any of us has time for. Lol I thought I would do my Top 5 reads for this year so far. You might think we’re only in the beginning of May, T.A. You shouldn’t have that many books read. Oh trust me…I’ve read 73 books by today. I seriously need to find more things to do with my time.
Anyway, having read 73 books, I have read quite a few really good ones. I’m only doing 5 though, and they’ll be in no particular order. I can’t say any of these 5 are better than the rest. Not at the moment.
To start with:
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I loved every moment spent in the Oasis and all the brilliant references to 80s movies, books and games. (I even enjoyed the movie, though it wasn’t quite like the book)
The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L Armentrout. A few heavy subjects are dealt with in this story, but watching the heroine and her hero learn how to survive was amazing.
I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. Very dark subject. (an unsolved serial rapist/killer case isn’t exactly light reading) Also, knowing Michelle died before ever seeing the Golden State Killer arrested is painful. Yet the feeling you get from the book was hope. There was never any doubt the police would discover his identity some day.
What to Say Next by Julie Buxbaum. A hero on the Autism spectrum and a heroine grieving the death of her father. Not your common story, yet these two characters work together to create a wonderful story.
Words on Bathroom Walls by Julia Walton. Another unusual hero struggling with an illness that will never be cured. Very poignant yet uplifting in the end because the hero isn’t going to give up fighting for his kind of normal.
Those are a few of my top reads for this year so far. I hope my little descriptions might help you consider checking them out.

A Men of Sports Story
Love can hit you hard before you even see it coming….
When rugby player Liam transfers to Melbourne, he’s blindsided by his attraction to the hottest lifeguard on the beach. Luckily Matty knows mouth-to-mouth….Liam’s left his friends and family—everything comforting and familiar—back in Canberra. He knows it all comes with the job, adjusting to a new city and a new team, but he’s lonely. Maybe it’s time to find something outside his career to fulfill him.
Working as a lifeguard and being by the ocean is Matty’s dream come true. The big, blond, blue-eyed hottie new to his beach catches his attention right away. When he runs into Liam again at the pub, he takes the shy league player under his wing and into his group of mates, and they become fast friends.
But when they go from friends to lovers, the emotions that come with their deepening romance catch them both off guard. Can two men without any experience at relationships navigate their way to steady ground?
About the Author: T.A. Chase lives in the Midwest with her neurotic but still wonderful senior cat. She believes there is beauty in every kind of love, so why not live a life without boundaries? Experiencing everything the world offers fascinates T.A., and writing about the things that make each of us unique is how she shares those insights. It’s all about living life to the fullest.
She loves hearing from fans. But don’t be too upset if she doesn’t get back to you right away. Life has a way of making her lose track of days and hours. Don’t worry, though. You will hear back at some point.
