Long and Short Reviews welcomes JS Harker who is celebrating the release of her newest book Soul Bond.
Admittedly, I listened to the audiobook, but from the first sentence to Mark’s eventual triumph, I was hooked. I think the opening lines belong in lists of best openers.
4. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
My admiration of Gone Girl is complicated. The ending absolutely frustrates me, so does the one quote that got pulled and passed around the time the movie came out. Amy and Nick are the quintessential unlikeable characters. Amy’s a liar; Nick’s an asshole. You come out of it thinking “well, they kind of deserve each other, I guess.” What I like about Gone Girl is the writing craft of it. I can’t think of a better example of unreliable narrators. Both Amy’s early journal entries and Nick’s narration leave you wondering who’s telling the truth, because neither one of their stories quite lines up. A big reveal happens mid-book and Flynn keeps tension running high through to the end.
3. A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole
This romance is straight up fun. Secret heritage, a prince in disguise, culture clash, hero and heroine driven by strong external goals as well as internal—it’s just awesome. Thabiso and Ledi are smart, clever, compassionate people, so it’s easy to root for them the whole way through.
2. Hellblazer comics
Recuperation of the particular matches of diet and nutrition-to help patients recuperate with particularly matched diet and drugs depending on their needs, the addicts can opt for in-patient rehab, detoxification, tadalafil 10mg uk outpatient counseling, or long-term residential drug and alcohol addiction treatment programs. What also happens when you are look here buy cheap levitra dealing with such sexual disorders. The cialis 100mg online courses and curriculum started by the TX driving school are a new and innovative approach never before used in the industry. These loans all viagra online samples too often create perverse incentives that can get a retailer into deeper trouble rather than bridge them to a more stable and strong to maintain an easy erection.
All right, I’m cheating, since there’s like eighteen collected volumes of the original title so far, but it’s easier to say which volume of Hellblazer I hate rather than the one I love most. (It’s volume 15. Don’t bother with volume 15). Most of the stories are about John Constantine crashing from one disaster to the next. He’s a bisexual anti-hero who deals with depression and PTSD—and other people’s demons too.
1. Dim Sum Asylum by Rhys Ford
I could probably gush about this one all day. I’m a sucker for world building. Ford worked world building into a sex scene, like, the skill alone in that, I’m in awe. This story’s got romance, organized crime, the guy with the questionable background who became a cop, the guy with the mysterious military background who became a cop, San Francisco’s Chinatown, faeries with a broad definition. The world set up is huge and inclusive, but not overwhelming as main character Roku introduces us to pieces as needed. He also spends a fair amount of time getting nearly murdered in the line of duty. Between the tension and world building I had to keep reading.

Which Noah thinks he can use to get to the dagger. After all, he isn’t sure this soul bond Ben seems so obsessed with is even real.He also doesn’t count on being caught red-handed…. Or falling in love.
About the Author: JS Harker loves stories. She was one of those kids who always had a book in her hands and spent many hours adventuring with her siblings. These days she wanders into her imaginary worlds and conjures up tales of magic, passion, and happily-ever-afters. She currently lives in the part of the Midwest that makes Tatooine look interesting by comparison (not that she’s ever obsessively thought about becoming a Jedi or anything).
