Long and Short Reviews welcomes Marie Harte, who is here to talk with us today about her newest release Roadside Assistance. Leave a comment for a chance to win a print copy of Test Drive. (US/Canada only).
Without giving it all away, please tell us a little something about how Cyn is going to get through her biggest challenge.
Cynthia—Cyn–the heroine, has a lot of issues pertaining to her size. She’s been chastised for it her entire life by her mother. Throughout the book, Cyn will learn to come to terms with who she is and understand that sometimes Mom doesn’t know best.
What has been your greatest challenge in writing ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE?
I was so in love with Johnny, from the first Body Shop Bad Boys book (TEST DRIVE) that I didn’t think I’d do Foley justice. Plus, all the guys in the garage except Foley have something to prove. Johnny doesn’t think he’s good enough for love. Sam is emotionally wounded. Lou has issues with his old man. Foley is just a terrific all-around guy. Sensitive, caring, yet tough too, without being over-the-top. Yet he managed to surpass my expectations. I love him!
Tell us about your favorite character in this book!
Foley is hands-down my favorite. He’s big, buff, sexy, and sticks his foot in his mouth when trying to woo a woman. He made me laugh a lot, then sigh, because he’s just so great. I want my own Foley in real life!
What message do you hope readers take away from the book?
That all women have issues with how they look. And that no one can make you feel low unless you let them. Strength comes in all shapes and sizes.
Thanks so much for having me!

He’s a gentleman
Foley Sanders figured he’ll always be content with a life of cars and casual hookups. Until a run-in with Cyn, a statuesque firecracker with a hate-on for men, leaves him bewitched and intrigued—much to her annoyance.
Maybe Cynthia Nichols was a little hard on Foley, that muscular, tattooed, super-hot mechanic next door. But she’s tired of feeling defensive about her size and has sworn off men. She’s got a new job, new life, perfect plan. Foley has trouble written all over him—no way is she going to fall for his charms.
Foley might look like a bad idea, but underneath, he’s all gentleman. Too bad Cyn’s not buying it. What’s a bad boy to do when the goddess of his dreams won’t give him the time of day?
