I love the work of Susan Carlisle. If I see one of her books is available, I jump. The writing sparkles and I’m always captivated by the story. I couldn’t put this one down.

Tariq wants to solve problems. He also wants to save Laurel from scandal. How? By making her his bride! Doesn’t that sound exciting? I can’t say I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes. He has his heart in the right place because he wants to keep her from scandal and wants her to work on her research.

I enjoyed the interplay between Tariq and Laurel. They aren’t totally made for each other to begin with and have to work through not only medical issues she’s researching, but the idea of being together before they can have a happy ending.

One thing I love about Carlisle’s stories is the emotion involved. I knew exactly how each character felt and what they were going through. Another thing I love is that there will be a happy ending. It’s wonderful. It’s like reading a hug.

If you’re interested in a book that tugs at the heartstrings and will brighten your afternoon, then this is the book for you.
