Once burned twice shy… but when old flames come together…passion reignites…

When burned once… Arriving in London as her goddaughter’s chaperone, Baroness Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley wants to avoid her erstwhile lover at all costs.

Once nearly consumed by passion, four years has reduced the former inferno to bitterness and ashes.

By an old flame… A world-weary master of seduction, Ludovic “The Devil” DeVere is bored with his chosen life of debauchery.

When Diana’s charge disappears, she is forced to seek help from the devil’s lair, and their mutual desire reignites with undeniable ferocity.

Fire is best fought with fire… While DeVere is hell-bent to have her back for keeps, Diana is equally determined to bring him to his knees…by acquiring some sensual secrets of her own.

The Devil’s Match starts off right were book two in the series leaves off. This book finds the very sexy and deviant Viscount Ludovic DeVere pining over the only woman he’s never grown tired of. While dealing with the marriage of his beloved brother to his goddaughter and the fury of his best friend, Vic struggles to manage his growing feelings for his prickly former lover, Baroness Diana. Diana must face the man who open her eyes and heart to the wicked world of sexual delight, when she’d rather never see the man again. Filled with bitterness towards him for his dismissal of her four years prior, she fends off his advances and spars with him verbal for most of the book.

Again in the second half of Diana and Vic’s love story, their passion fuels several arguments that leaves readers amused and rooting for them to be together. No matter how hard she tried, even Diana feel victim to Vic’s devilish charms. He was just so wicked, saying things like, “Say it, Diana. I love hearing vulgar words from your lovely lips.”. Once they let their walls down and embrace their true feelings, I was reaching for the tissues at the end of the book.

Author Victoria Vane does an excellent job of showing Vic’s heart of gold that lies deep, deep under the layers of his outlandish attitude and Diana’s warmth that lies beneath her many frosty layers. This couple and their story far surpasses the others in the series, and needed the two books to really show how deep their love was and how it triumphed over all else. On top of this, the book was well written, witty, sexy, funny and historically correct. Ms. Vane has now been put on this historical lover’s must buy list, and I advise you all do the same!
