There are some things people see in toilets that they wish they hadn’t. What Trevor Hawkins sees might even cost him his life…

When Trevor hits the open road in his beat-up old camper van with his incorrigible dog, Milly, his quest for adventure soon spirals dangerously out of control. The simple act of flushing a hotel toilet transforms his life from redundant sales assistant to fugitive from a gang of psychopathic villains, the police and MI5.

Make them feel good about themselves and do not let them leave,” Gossage said. “You have a lot of fans who decide, ‘I’m going to the car,’ or, ‘I can beat it.’ That’s when you run into problems.” Gossage, who has been president of Texas since its 1997 opening, isn’t sure that red-flagging a race necessarily is the best decision for evacuating the grandstands. “There is a risk,” he said. “What. cialis uk Erectile dysfunction is a tragic and pill viagra for sale demoralizing health problem for men who suffer from it. Then there’s private detective Sandra Gray, who could cheerfully throttle him for turning a well paid, piece-of-cake job into a total nightmare. Or could she?

With more twists and turns than an Escher-designed bobsleigh run, Lifting the Lid is a comic thriller about how a single, split-second decision can change someone’s life forever.

Trevor Hawkins accepts a redundancy package from his employer of fifteen years and then hits the road in a Volkswagen van with his dog Milly. But very quickly his plans go awry. First the van breaks down and he has to stay in a pricy hotel which doesn’t allow dogs. Then he breaks the lid on the toilet when he is trying to fix the flush, turning his world into a chaotic romp.

Lifting the Lid is a very funny and engaging story about how one decision can change someone’s life forever. I liked Trevor and his dog Milly. Trevor isn’t very bright and keeps getting himself in one scrape after another, and Milly lacks any training at all, but is very sweet.

The chapters are short and the action is very fast-paced, flipping from one scene to another and I was kept guessing throughout, wondering how the various parts would come together in the end. The plot abounds with everything from a gang of psychopathic villains to a private detective, a vindictive mother, a missing wife, and of course a fair assortment of law enforcement personnel, some honest and some not. The humor becomes a bit too slapstick at times, but nevertheless, the roller coaster ride is wonderful.

The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, laughing all the time. The story is intriguing, but the best part is just enjoying the frolic from one adventure to the next. Each scene is fully detailed with wonderful, hilarious descriptions so that I felt as if I were at the extremely loud concert or in the hotel room when the maids discover Milly.

Lovers of comedic thrillers are sure to enjoy the Lifting the Lid.
