I’ve followed this series for a while, and it was interesting to meet a bonded pair who have a long history but have to work together to repair what was broken. There were some spots that were a bit confusing, and I imagine extremely confusing if this is the first book in the Thresl Chronicles a reader picks up. This is not a book to be read out of order, so many threads of intrigue flow and carry over from previous books. I personally liked those threads though I’ll admit that I wish I had gone back and read the series again for some of the little bits of past trivia, since I didn’t remember some past players.

Friln and Nelrin have a beautiful relationship which is at the core of this story. They are proof that love blooms and gets better with time, and that even when forgotten love leaves an imprint on the heart. That was my favorite part of the book. I felt a deep connection with the characters because of their long history and easily flowing feelings of love. I also learned a bit more about how Thresl’s work and I really liked finding out more about these fascinating creatures. I will be picking up the next book, and recommend this book if the reader has already read the previous books, and I do recommend the whole series, it’s a series that keeps building on itself and getting better over time much like Friln and Nelrin’s love.
