For Emma, Wills is the perfect husband—and a tirelessly sinful lover. At their home, in dark corners at dinner parties, in carriage rides across London, they explore each other’s bodies in a consuming passion that won’t end. But then a devastating illness turns pleasure into peril and Wills realizes one careless mistake could cost Emma her life. He moves far away to Bath, where his unceasing desire can no longer harm her.

Left to her own devices, Emma plans a new life for herself in Paris. She writes to Wills—tearful letters, pleading letters, letters threatening to leave him, letters begging him to return—but he never responds. She decides to confront the stubborn man in the flesh but finds him unwilling to say goodbye. Wills loves Emma and he has until Paris to prove they’re meant to be together—and to show her dark, forbidden pleasures unlike any she’s known before.

What if your passion might kill the one you love the most? This question is handled with delicacy and detail in this Victorian romance. Emma is a heroine who’s gentle and strong at the same time, driven by her desire for her beloved husband. Yet despite a white hot sexual life, her marriage has not been easy. Emma appeared to be barren until after seven years of trying, she’s suddenly pregnant. She’s overjoyed. But after her physical her husband has misgivings which are eventually proven correct when she suffers a tubal pregnancy and nearly dies. Another pregnancy might kill her.

With no sure birth control methods available, Wills tries to remain chaste in the marriage. But when he does this, Emma is sure he will slip away from her, possibly into the arms of a former mistress. Emma is determined to hold on to her husband with every ounce of her will and powers of seduction.

Unable to cope with the constant onslaught of his wife’s seductive charms, Wills knows he must separate himself physically from Emma. He cannot take the chance that his sexual hunger may make him do something that will cost the life of the woman he loves. He puts his medical studies to work, trying to find a way to have sexual expression with his wife that will not put her at risk.

Much of the story is told in flashbacks to the couple’s previous sexual life. In between are layered scenes of seemingly impossible emotional and sexual tension. The sex is written in vivid erotic detail yet there is much tenderness and love between the couple. Love, respect, passion, that’s what this story is all about. It’s achingly romantic, blisteringly erotic and thoroughly engrossing from beginning to end. I am very glad that I selected Until Paris for review.
