When two steely-eyed, lean-hipped strangers ride into town, Lacy Morgan knows her past has caught up with her. What she doesn’t know is that the U.S. marshals will do whatever’s necessary to capture her stepfather and his gang of murdering thieves, including bringing Lacy to her knees to serve their sexual needs.

Quinn and his blood brother Dakota are searching for the key to finding the band of outlaws who murdered their adoptive father. When they confront the sultry stepdaughter of the gang’s leader, they discover she’s unaware of her natural submissive tendencies.

As they journey to the gang’s lair, each day the men draw Lacy further and further into a sensuality she’s never known and a trust she’d sworn never to surrender to again. Using her lusty body for their combined pleasure, they find themselves ensnared in the same tender trap.

When the sins of her past finally catch up to her, Lacy Morgan has no choice but surrender her freedom to U.S. Marshall Quinn Halliday and Dakota O’Keefe, his blood brother and partner. Lacy never anticipates willingly giving up her heart along the way. Likewise, Quinn faces an internal turmoil when his ethical code demands he take Lacy in to face justice but his heart demands he keep her safe, by his side and in his bed.

Set in the Montana Territory, 1882, The Surrender of Lacy Morgan is a story of outlaws on the run, brothers seeking justice and an untraditional love story that had me saying “Ahhhh… ” more than once. Ms. Ferrell has a very talented voice for writing gritty and vivid historical settings. She carries the reader right along with Quinn, Dakota and Lacy as they travel across country in search of the murdering thief Devil Morgan and his gang of marauders.

Lacy totally won me over as the heroine. She has spirit and determination that gave her the courage to break away from her step-father’s gang. Even though she’s scared to be taken back to Devil’s den she draws on the wisdom her mother gave her, her inner strength and the love she has for Quinn to face her demons. Lacy grew up hearing and seeing women who followed the band of outlaws treated with less respect than the animals, including her mother. She is initially and understandably distrustful of Quinn and his motives.

Even though Quinn doesn’t particularly like Lacy in the beginning he has a hard time fighting his attraction to the mixed heritage beauty. He recognizes the submissive in her pretty quick and uses that to gain her trust and help with finding Devil Morgan. Quinn and Dakota have a personal vendetta to settle regarding the heist that Lacy participated in. Ms. Ferrell’s description of how Quinn is dealing with the loss of his adopted father was simply beautiful and heart breaking. You feel his loss and his emotions as he retells the story of how he and his brothers came to live with Cap and his wife, Juanita.

I love a story that gives clues to an ongoing series. Ms. Ferrell teases the reader by giving Dakota visions of a dark haired woman that he knows he’s meant to find. At the same time we briefly meet more brothers: Nicco, Ian and Will. It’s apparent each brother has his own journey to happiness to make and this reviewer can’t wait to journey right along with them. Don’t miss the first in this amazing series and discover the beauty in Lacy’s surrender.
