When I picked up this book, I was expecting a breeches ripper. Since I’ve never read either of these authors before, I was shocked by what I did read, a brilliant and cleverly written tale. Set in 1176, this was a period piece, true to the times. Squire William Raven has his eyes on the prize–getting his spurs and becoming the knight he has always wanted to be.
Like I said, I think I was expecting a hot and heavy romance, but what we see is a journey, from a young man, a squire intent on becoming a knight to a man, now worthy of his lord’s love. William is a complex character, one brilliantly designed by Mr. Voinov and Ms. It is also suggested to cialis sales stop smoking. Oftentimes when a piece co-written, I can see the seams where two authors have sewn together a book but it was as if one writer wrote this novella. I couldn’t put the book down, thoroughly entranced by the gritty detail and emotions flowing from William. I felt this story was like an award winning film where the actors didn’t bathe for days to get the true feeling of medieval England. I just thank God I didn’t have to smell it.
The editing was superb and the pacing brilliant but I did feel that, while William was fully fleshed out, Sir Robert was a mystery to me, even though William had been training with him for ages. Truly though, I didn’t care, I couldn’t put down the book.
Mr. Voinov and Ms. Cotoner have a gorgeous novella here, and I’m hoping a sequel is written to it. This book is well worth the money and I will be the first to snatch up anything else written by these authors.
