Every kid has problems. Every kid has even more problems when they move to a new home. But when a kid with problems moves to a new home that has a Demon living inside it—look out!

Etta’s world is about to spin out of control when she encounters her new roommate—and Rahovart, that ancient trickster, is in for a few surprises too. So don’t mind all the crashing and rumbling; that’s just the normal noise Angels and Demons make when they’re fighting an epic war in the attic.

One thing’s for sure: Etta and Rahovart will have to go through Hell to Heaven and back again before that old Victorian home in Quantico Town finally quiets down…

Etta’s not had an easy life. So, why should it be surprising that when her father tries to give her a fresh start, they wind up moving into a house inhabited by a demon? But what about the demon? Has his un-life been any easier? And even more importantly, what happens when their worlds collide in one big bang? In a word: chaos.

Rahavort is both your typical demon and he’s not, not really. While he lives to torture, annoy, and frighten the living daylights out of the living, there’s more to him than that. And it takes a seventeen-year-old girl to make him realize it. I was intrigued by the idea of the story being told from his point of view. However, you can take all your preconceptions and throw them out the window, because Ra is going to surprise you paragraph after paragraph until he’s even surprising himself. Never have I read about a demon so compassionate and caring, even if only when it comes to Etta.

Etta is awesome. She’s damaged, she’s young, and yet she takes no prisoners. Despite the fact she’s literally been through hell and back, she never lets her circumstances get her down. I laughed out loud every time she stood up to Ra and told him to, basically ‘stuff it’. Her bravery and her fragility combine to make for an intriguing character.

At first, I had some trouble with the author’s style. It seemed a bit inconsistent but she happily pulls it together after the first couple chapters and settles into a style that flows in a better way. I’m very thankful for this as it turned out to be an enjoyable story with a shocker of an ending. Demon stories are a favorite of mine and I was excited to find this waiting for me. I was even more thrilled when I saw how the author so wonderfully turned everything we knew about demons on its head. A nice twist of events never hurt anyone, right? I absolutely hope that there is a sequel in the works.
