Alexandra Russell, a clever virgin who is extraordinarily fascinated by vampires, finds herself kidnapped and about to die at the hands of one of the bloodsuckers until she is rescued by a strange man who seems oddly familiar. After he informs her that she is the Chosen One, sought after by not only his fellow vampire slayers, known as the Brotherhood, but also the Darkness, a vicious vampire clan, she agrees to come with him to begin training as a slayer.

She not only loathes the training, but she also finds herself lusting after her Slayer while she surpasses him skill-wise. Every day she finds new senses developing within her, many of which she keeps secret from the man who has finally taken her virginity.

Alex and Richmond embark on missions to slay vampires, always returning home to work off their adrenaline in the most delicious ways. After a spat, Alex puts herself in grave danger when she is faced with the vampire who nearly became her first lover years earlier. Will Alex find the strength to fight her lustful nature, which threatens to make her betray Richmond and the bond they share?

Alexandra finds herself having one hell of a great day, which immediately causes her to consider her uncustomary excellent day may point to a bad omen and, as one would imagine it suddenly takes a downward spiral in a seriously macabre way.

She ends her day in a vamp club to feed her dark fascination with the latter. Lulled by a handsome stranger she finds herself kidnapped by a beast of a vampire set on taking more than her blood. As she lay there wondering what the Hell she was thinking being cooed by the bloodsucker in the first place, she finds herself rescued by an extremely hot Slayer of vampires who claimed to be a member of the Brotherhood. The Slayer hero then divulges that she is the Chosen One sought by both his fellow vampire slayers and The Darkness, a nasty vampire clan.

She finds herself thrust into Slayer training and taking to the skills even to the point of exceeding her Slayer in ability. She also finds her handsome Slayer is a man of few words but long on sultry foreplay and drawing out skills Alex never new she had as well as teasing her virgin status to the point she will do anything to lose it.

I fell right into this book from the very first line. Buffy with an attitude! Alexandra had me laughing and crying and Richmond had me drooling for a piece of him. These characters even the antagonists have you tied to the edge of your seat. Just enough conflict, suspense, and mystery to keep you turning pages. And can I tell you the sex? Whoa! Richmond and Alex keep that fire burning! Then in walks, Roland, the Master of the Darkness, who will stop at nothing to have Alex as his queen. Poor Alex. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Her libido just can’t get a break.

The reader follows Alex as this is written expertly in the First Person through many discoveries as well her eventual loss of her blasted virginity. We see how this character grows and evolves into her destiny. The only problem is we’re left dangling.

I suddenly found myself on the last page and felt at a loss. Three very important threads were never tied up which left me very disappointed. I certainly hope Ms. Miette has plans for a sequel because it definitely seems a MUST.

Another thing I noticed were many typos throughout which, although they stopped me momentarily, did not hinder my progress through this action packed, very hot story. I loved this book and in my opinion would have been perfection if only all the major threads had been tied up.

I will definitely read more from this author — especially if she writes a sequel.
