Working out is a daily routine for Dan, who meets his friend Lonnie at the gym to lift weights. But breaking a sweat takes on a whole new meaning when Dan sees Gene, a professional bodybuilder, in the mirror. Dan knows it’s a lost cause: he’s forty and nursing a broken heart, nowhere in the same league as gorgeous Gene.

Then at the gym the next day, Gene asks Dan if he can work out with him. A bet wins Dan a smoothie and conversation, which surprisingly leads to a date. Now Dan is faced with a dilemma: does he allow Gene to elbow his way into his life, or will he give up on the idea of a new relationship before it even starts?

Dan is a forty-year-old that has just been dumped by his boyfriend. What makes it even worse for Dan is that he is dumped for a younger man. His self-esteem takes a serious blow and he decides to combat the feelings head on by going to the gym to work out with his best friend, Lonnie.

I won’t say much about Lonnie other than the fact that he is an interesting character. Lonnie is straight and engaged to be married. His biggest quirk is that he’s obsessed by what he thinks is his ‘larger than normal’ butt.

During one particular workout, Dan lays eyes on a gorgeous man working out nearby. Lonnie just so happens to know who he is. The hunk’s name is Gene and he’s a health and fitness model not to mention he is featured on all the best fitness magazines.

Things take a turn for the worse when a prank in the showers goes awry. Spot Me is well-paced story. You don’t have to be a fan of working out to understand what is going on in this story. As a reader I was too engrossed in the developing romance between Gene and Dan to focus on it. The book was so well-written that I could not put it down. The characters were dynamic and such believable people that I loved the story even more than I expected. I guarantee you a great read from an author who obviously knows how to keep readers’ attention. I highly recommend that you read this book.
