Scottish border lord Robert Shelley doesn’t believe that the blind woman has the gift of knowing, and quickly learns that his suspicions are correct, but what he doesn’t expect is the searing lust she ignites inside him.

Katie Stewart has been swept back into medieval time and has adjusted the best way she knows how—by conning her way into enough coins to survive. She’s content with her life until a big Scotsman walks into her cottage and seizes her heart, making her want more than just his gifts and the occasional romp. Katie wants him—forever.

She’s got a fiery streak few men understand, much less are able to tame.

He’s…well, he’s a Laird. Enough said. What happens when this woman of the future tangles with the honorable and a little demanding Scot? Lots and lots of heat.

I’ve not read many books by Sable Grey, so I was happy to get my hands on this book. I wasn’t let down. The writing is tight and the plot interesting. I couldn’t put it down. I felt like I was back in their time. Although I wasn’t totally sure what precise period the book was set—not that it mattered; the story held its own so really I didn’t need to know.

Robert and Katie are certainly a pair. Wow, did the pages melt when they touched. Ms. Grey writes hot love scenes. Even if they aren’t as descriptive as some erotica, the heat is truly conveyed. I rather liked it. There were moments though, when I had a hard time liking Katie and Robert. Katie is a hard headed, somewhat jaded woman. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to take it—on her terms. I can’t fault her for being her own person. It was refreshing to read a heroine who has guts. Sometimes she was a bit over the top in her grittiness, but it worked. Robert, too, had his moments when I wanted to clunk him on the head. I understood his feelings in the situations and could relate to his judgments (even when he was being masculine and impossible). I liked their pluck. He took what he wanted and she made him ask for it. Very nice.

If you want a story with a good balance of heat and heart and a secondary cast full of characters, then this is the book for you. I give Scattered: Her Laird, Her Lover 3.5 cherries.
