Sing For Your Supper by Jaime Samms

Hunger can drive a man to do just about anything in order to satisfy it, but when it’s hunger of the heart, will past relationships keep three men wanting more?

Taylor has left home, chased out by his family because he’s gay, and pursued across the prairies by the man who violently assaulted him in his own home. Now he’s homeless, friendless and using his charm and skills learned on his knees before his father’s farm hands to pay for his meals.

Matt sees something more than a desperate whore in the young rancher who comes to his diner in hopes a quick blow job will buy him a meal. He sees past Taylor’s current circumstances to a man who just needs a clean break.

Matt sends Taylor off to his friend Jim’s ranch hoping the older man will see the same things in Taylor and give him the opportunity to start over. No one expects the visceral attraction between the rancher and his new hire.

When Taylor’s past catches up to him, and he realizes he’s put both men in jeopardy just for trying to help him, he thinks maybe he deserves to be branded the fool he is.

Ride ‘em Hard Cowboy by J. P. Bowie is an engaging story with a well rounded and appealing cast of characters. The romance between Sheriff Joel Harper and lawyer Joel Sherwood is intensely passionate, and the resulting sex is blazing hot. The investigation into who is vandalizing Joel’s property provides an added edge of tension in an otherwise conflict free story. Even though Mr. Bowie ties up all the loose ends just a little too perfectly, it does not detract from the overall enjoyment of this deliciously sexy read.

Roping His Man by Simone Anderson is a delightfully steamy story. The romance between Colt Greenleaf and Hawk Keegan has been a long time in the making, and their feelings for one another are obvious to everyone except the main protagonists. For the most part, the characters are well developed and likeable, but Colt is a little immature, and some of his reactions involving Hawk and their developing relationship are juvenile. The overall plot is sound, but there are a few events that were unrealistic. Strong family ties and solid friendships firmly ground this slightly uneven story and help bring Roping His Man to its heartwarming conclusion.

A Fistful of Emmett by Jambrea Jo Jones is a captivating read with engaging protagonists and a compelling storyline. Emmett Longley and Kit Younger are multidimensional characters whose new and surprising relationship unfolds at a leisurely pace. Emmett’s easygoing and laidback personality gives him the patience he needs as he waits for Kit to come to terms with his bewildering new attraction to another man. A Fistful of Emmett is well written and realistic, and Ms. Jones delivers the perfect ending for this endearing story.

Sing for Your Supper by Jaime Samms is a powerful story of redemption as Taylor Anderson unexpectedly finds love and acceptance from an unlikely pair of men. Betrayed by his family and on the run from an abusive and vindictive ex-lover, Taylor’s fortuitous stop in a small town diner literally changes his life overnight. Sing for Your Supper is an outstanding short story with vibrant characters that Ms. Samms brings vividly to life. A well executed and gripping plot quickly engages the reader in this unusual but highly appealing story. A realistic storyline, flawed yet loveable protagonists, and scorching hot sex prove to be a winning combination in this exceptional offering from talented author Jaime Samms.

Jack’s Way by Em Woods is, quite simply, a wonderful love story. Ben Morillo’s spur of the minute decision to visit his old college friend Matt Wilder brings about an unforeseen yet welcome new relationship with rancher Jack Marr. Ben and Jack possess strong personalities which brings an interesting dynamic to their relationship as both men struggle for dominance in and out of the bedroom. Jack’s habit of carefully guarding his heart and emotions adds conflict and depth to this finely wrought story. Ms. Woods keeps the sexual tension turned up, and the resulting lovemaking is highly erotic and deeply sensual. Ms. Woods provides her readers with a touching epilogue that neatly wraps up this marvelous story.

Straight Cowboy by Jan Irving is an unexpected treat. Josh Ryan and Matt James are superbly developed yet imperfect protagonists. The sexual tension between Josh and Matt continually simmers in the background as they explore the fiery passion that is burning between them. Despite Josh’s brief foray into the gay porn industry, he has no doubt that he is anything but heterosexual so his stubborn attraction to Matt is as unwelcome as it is surprising. Matt may be a city slicker, but he is world wise and experienced, and his patience with Josh is unending and touching. Although there is plenty of smokin’ hot sex, an underlying sense of innocence and naiveté adds to Straight Cowboy’s appeal and easily makes this a standout story.
