Prior to reading this story I had not heard of this author, but after reading it I will never forget her. The premise alone caught me at first glance. When I read about were-bird and a were-leopard in the blurb I knew I would have to read this story just to figure how that would work. I hadn’t anticipating falling in love with the characters, but that is exactly what happened.
Nicodemus (Nico) has all of the attributes I love and hate in an alpha male. Yes, he will protect his mate no matter what, and stand by her side, but he also demands submission both in the bedroom and outside. If you love male arrogance as much as I do, Nico will not disappoint. Submission is something a Queen like Ajax is not accustomed to nor is very good at. Yet she will not let that issue get in the way of their otherwise perfect matching. She has a way of leading without pushing that I love about her. Her life has not been one continuous happiness, but she has played the hand she was dealt and in the end does what is best for everyone. With Nico by her side she is able to find the strength she thought she had lost a long time ago.
One thing Nico is definitely master of is the bedroom. Wow, can he dominate a sexual experience for all participants — readers included. I absolutely loved the erotic scenes in this story and could not wait to get to the next one. Especially because I think angry sex makes some of the best sex and Nico and Ajax take full advantage. It sure made me think about starting an arguement just to see what will happen next!
This is the fourth installment of this series, but only the first one I have ever read. This story reminded me of why I love doing book reviews. It gives me a chance to discover authors I may not have ever heard about, but cannot see my life without their stories now that I do know them.
