Monday Spotlight: Elle Laudan

Women in the Wind

What is it about riding a motorcycle so many women find appealing? In the past 20 years the number of women riders has exploded to make up over a third of the riding population.

So…just what is it?

I think it’s one of those things you have to experience to understand completely. Some lady riders say it is a high no drug can replicate. Another word that crops up when talking to a woman, who rides, is FREEDOM. Once she climbs on her bike, she is as one with the machine. The beauty in nature surrounds her, and the magic in the wind carries all of her cares away, even if it’s only for a little while.

Here is a short excerpt from She Rides

Four hours of road stretched before her. With a flick of her wrist, she gave Lady a shot of gas and a surge of adrenaline coursed through her veins. Majestic oak trees lined either side of the road—the wind gently bowed their tops, creating an archway which she rode through reverently.

If only someone found a way to bottle the magic in the wind—a wonder drug of epic proportions. A drug so potent it healed a broken heart, and shed light on the darkness of depression.
