Adam Calder’s act of courage and selflessness has saved him from the forever darkness, but he’s a Nightwing, a human with black wings, trapped in a dark, starry place called the Void.

He has one window to Earth, a view through the mirror of an elevator car, and one chance to leave the Void and find the Light.

Eva Evans was saved by a stranger, a winged man she now sees in her dreams. While on vacation in Fiji, Eva steps into an elevator and sees her savior, the sexy man of her dreams. Is he a dream or is he real?

For a short story, this tale is imbued with real emotion and a wonderful romantic hook that has this reader sighing in happiness.

I’ve read a few books in the Mirror, Mirror series but none of them are as precious as this one. The others I’ve read before have a lot of sex in them but this one has the benefit of touching the heart and mind in addition to a wonderful celebration of physical love.

The best thing about Nightwing is the hero’s redemption. Adam is more of an anti-hero; he’s a man who followed a life of crime due to circumstance. Had things been different for him when growing up, would he have turned out to be a better man? Maybe. Will the power of love reach the darkness inside? Pretty heavy questions for any book to tackle and yet, this one does with surprising effect.

Eva is the kind of woman who fits the phrase, ‘behind every great man, is a great woman’. She has that elusive something that reaches the darkness inside Adam and gives him hope and a reason to live. I enjoyed Eva’s approach to life and love. She follows her heart and it’s beautiful.

I liked how Ms. McCall set up the story, and how it progressed. The editing was even perfect. The book has as its base, a very noble and romantic theme spiced up with some erotic dreams and a sensual and blissful reality for both Evan and Adam. I enjoyed the dialogue, the way Purces provided needed information without it being an information dump, and the idea that the good things we do in life really do have value beyond what we realize.

Mirror, Mirror: Nightwing is a quality tale with a hero and heroine I heartily cheered for. It’s sweet yet hot with a wonderful message of second chances and redemption. I give a Teddy Bear hug to this story because it made me feel all warm and fuzzy after I was done. The ending is more a hopefully ever after but I got the distinct impression, based on a feather, that I can be assured Adam and Eva are going to be just fine. Hear me sigh.
