Every Girl Wants a Guy Who’s an Animal in Bed!

Artist Heidi Gibson is spending the summer up in Anchorage doing some painting when she gets attacked by a crazed wolf. She is rescued by golden-eyed wildlife biologist Luke McCall, who calmly informs she has been bitten by a werewolf and will turn into one during the next full moon. Thinking he’s obviously out of his mind, she can’t get away from him fast enough.

When strange things start happening to her, however, she begins to think the ruggedly handsome biologist could be right. Not knowing what else to do, she goes to Luke and is stunned to discover that he knows so much about werewolves because he’s one himself.

As Luke teaches her what she needs to know about being a werewolf, Heidi finds herself falling hard for the Alaskan hunk. But while they’re intent on each other, the werewolf that attacked her comes back into the picture, and he’s not exactly happy that another of his kind is trying to take the woman he believes is his
rightful mate. Can Luke and Heidi’s attraction overpower the jealousy of the rogue werewolf?

Animal Instinct is the sequel to Animal Attraction. However, this book is fine as a stand-alone title. Paige Tyler has created an erotic paranormal story set in the wilderness of Alaska, giving me beautiful pictures of this area to savor as I read about Heidi and Luke. Heidi is an artist who has come to Alaska to get inspiration for her watercolors. While on a hike, she is attacked by a wolf and is saved by Luke. She is grateful to Luke until he tells her that the wolf was actually a werewolf and now she is too. Over the next few days, Heidi struggles with the changes to her senses and realizes that she needs to talk to Luke. Luke quickly helps her to realize that werewolves are real, because he is one by birth. Heidi is not only amazed that werewolves are real and that she is one now, but that Luke seems to be the perfect man for her. If only she didn’t have to go home to Denver.

Luke is surprised to find out that there is another werewolf in the area and that it attacked Heidi. He is worried about her going through her first change alone and relieved when she finally calls him. After showing her the truth, Luke begins spending time with her and quickly realizes that he has finally found a woman with whom he can spend his life with. The problem is that she is going home soon.

The day before the full moon, Luke picks up the scent of the werewolf who attacked Heidi, first at the Market and then at her apartment. Luke takes Heidi to the safety of his home. Now, he must keep her safe through her first change and find out who the other werewolf if and why he wants Heidi.

Animal Instinct is an erotic book filled with passion between Heidi and Luke. I did feel that the plot and character development could have been a bit more developed, considering the length of the book. However, with likeable characters, a fast pace and searing passion, this book was still a great read. If you are looking for a hot paranormal read, then Animal Instinct is the book for you.
