Starfighter pilot Giles Oberon’s career means everything to him. No sacrifice is too great. But as hard as he tries, he cannot resist returning to Obsidion, the pleasure planet, and the woman he will never forget. Pleasures of the flesh are forbidden on Earth and Giles’ sexual desires break every law on his home planet.

Star can satisfy any need a man has, in any way he wants—using her body, her machines and toys, and her devoted eunuch, Brendan. It is her job after all. Her heart is never involved. Except with Giles.

Giles has just discovered that Star has a secret he can’t ignore. He takes her and Brendan on a holiday journey and finds joy that transcends his ambition and his obligation to the Federation. Giles’ life is about to change forever.

This is one hot and delicious short story.

Pleasures of the flesh have been outlawed on the Earth of the future. Giles Oberon has desires that would have him jailed or worse back home. He tells himself he will avoid The Gates of Hell Dungeon of Star of the East, the pleasure mistress on Obsidion, even as he is striding down the street towards her place.

Star is the one woman who knows what he wants, and what he needs. Only Star knows how he has ‘shamed’ himself, and she will give him exactly what he desires before the night is over. Star and her eunuch Brendan, are planning to celebrate the coming holiday much like it was done centuries before on Earth, before the Federation outlawed it. Before so much was outlawed, like desire, and love and even sex. And Star has one last secret, one that will rock Giles to the very core. Can a career starfighter turn his back on the life he has led and join with the people he has come to love? When does duty stop being enough, and has Giles reached that point in his life? Can Star give up her life as a pleasure giver, and devote herself to her man?

Ann Jacobs has built a world on a planet much like Earth, and yet so very different at the same time. The characters are well crafted, and the heat level is scorchingly hot throughout. I liked the romance threaded through the passion, and would love to see more from this world.

Star is a strong and sensuous woman. She is a pleasure giver, a respected position on Obsidion, and she is the best at what she does. She also has a secret and how she dealt with it made me really like her. I also liked the way she protected and cared for Brendan, the eunuch she ‘bought’ to save him the terrible life he had before. She is compassionate and loyal, and unashamed of her life.

Giles is strong, handsome and a fierce starfighter. It is only with Star that he can show the other side of himself, the submissive to her dominant. He discovers a joy he never knew as he submits to the attentions of Star and Brendan, and I loved watching him discover that love and passion are far more important for a happy life than glory in battle ever could be.

This is one of the hottest short stories I have ever read. There are several steaming scenes, but the one in the Dungeon has to top it all. I enjoyed watching these three people learn how to become a united family, and I enjoyed watching Giles discover that love comes in all sizes and genders, and that he could accept both pleasure and pain, and still be whole. This is definitely one world I want to visit again, and I hope Ms. Jacobs brings me many more like this one. Do Star, Giles and Brendan get the happy ever after they deserve? You’ll just have to read His Pleasure Mistress to find out for yourself.
