To find happiness, she must do something she swore she’d never do again.

Let a man control her.

After beating cancer, Vivian goes on a mission to cleanse her life. First on the list, kicking her cheating, controlling husband to the curb. Second, discovering the answer to a question that’s been haunting her. Is the love she harbors for Brock, her bad-boy brother-in-law, genuine or a chemotherapy-induced illusion?

Brock loves a woman he can’t have. His brother’s wife. To claim her would be a betrayal. He knows loving her is wrong but he can’t help it. So when circumstances bring them back together, he can no longer deny his forbidden attraction, and they unite in a fury of passion, lust—and bondage.

But Vivian isn’t prepared for Brock’s BDSM lifestyle, no matter how sexy he looks with his tats and leathers. After ten years with a controlling husband, submission is terrifying—but so is never being with Brock again. Submission or freedom? No matter which she chooses, her life will change forever.

What would you do if you had a second chance at life? That’s what Vivian got the moment she beat cancer. A second chance to live again and she is going to do anything and everything to live it to the fullest.

Vivian has known for years that her husband was a cheating controlling jerk, but when he couldn’t be bothered to support her during her fight for life, it was the last straw. It also didn’t help that his brother Brock was there for her every step of the way. She has always had a special place in her heart for him, but can her attraction actually be more? One cancer victory, a steamy kiss and a divorce later and now Vivian is going to find out.

Brock must move on. He needs to stop pining over his older brother’s wife. His love life is suffering and so is his job. He isn’t even enjoying one of his favorite past times, being a Dom. This big strong tattooed man is going to go out on his Harley and change things up – until he opens his garage door and there stands Vivian looking better than ever.

Now they both have a chance to find love. But they are each bringing into the relationship painful pasts and secrets. They must be strong enough to work past the pain and trust each other to make it work. The question is…are they?

His Forbidden Submissive was a good story. I enjoyed seeing Vivian take charge of her life, but her knee jerk reactions were often and cumbersome. Brock also was an enigma. When you look at the cover you see this sexy gorgeous male back. The cover depicts Ms. Evans’ description of Brock very well. I also imagine him being an amazing Dom with a strength that is solid and undeterred. That was not the case. He comes across as too insecure and unsure, but his tenderness to Vivian was still sweet. Another mixed bag for me is the ex-husband. He’s like the third corner of this love triangle, but I feel he was not utilized to his fullest. He was this big dark cloud hanging over them, but all he did was sprinkle on them. But in the same breath, I’m glad he did take a back seat. It showed how unimportant he was to their future.

This novel had more heart and emotions than it did BDSM. My problem is that after reading the blurb, I went into the book expecting more grrrr and less awww. If I mentally take out the strong undercurrent of BDSM in my mind, the story improves for me. Ms. Evans had a tough job in my opinion. How do you write a Dom that has an emotional connection with a woman that’s forbidden? In that regards, she does a very nice job. Brock is more than likely representing a “real life” Dom and not the countless alphas that are in the literary world. I personally think Brock is written more realistically with emotions and insecurities. Well done Ms. Evans.

His Forbidden Submissive is a pleasant read that has elements of BDSM. Brock and Vivian are a relatively intense couple who have a bumpy ride to happiness. Their insecurities are real and so are most of their reactions to them. This is a satisfying story, but the plot is missing a teeny tiny something to push it over the top for me. I would recommend this book to someone that is looking for a book about second chances and the emotions of doing what’s right for your heart. Expect elements of BDSM, but nothing hard-core.

His Forbidden Submissive is about the happy ending at the end of a long journey. I found myself cheering for this couple. I hope you will, too!
