Guest Post – S. Reesa Herberth and Michelle Moore – Writing Anniversaries

Yesterday was the 13th anniversary of the first time Michelle Moore and I wrote together. At the time, we just thought we were role-playing in a chat room on the old WBS chat system. But then WBS went away, and we couldn’t stop writing things for each other. Eventually we strayed from that first, beloved set of characters, who had been reworked in at least five alternate universe personas by then. Then Michelle wrote something that was supposed to be an 18th century privateer story, but I was in love with Firefly at the time, and suddenly, there was a spaceship. It took another couple of years, but that was the underpinning for the Ylendrian Empire series.

Just goes to show, the big things find you when you think you’re just having fun. Do you have an unexpected anniversary? A person you met that you didn’t think you’d be sharing one with?

To celebrate both the LASR/WC Reviews 4th anniversary, and our own writing anniversary, Michelle and I are going to post a new (free!) Ylendrian short story for all of you, in a couple of hours. It’s been a year since the events of The Slipstream Con, and Kellen Frey has thought very hard about the anniversary gifts he wants to give.

Looks like a fabulous line up of posts and authors with treats for you today, so I’ll let someone else have their turn now. Catch you soon, with free fiction!

  3. I love surprises, the good ones anyways so I find a surprise anniversary wonderful. I’m really glad both your writing connected out of something fun. I think all partnerships should start out like this -from fun.

  4. Congratulations on your anniversary.

  5. Happy anniversary, you two! It’s magic, you two together 😉 DH and I hit 13, too–it’s a good number!
