Love by the Numbers

Once upon a time there was a writer who believed she had her path all plotted out complete with twists and turns in the road, detours, and road blocks. All her ducks were in a row and her muses were sitting neatly on their tiny couch on her desk behaving. And then one day…

A house fell on her muses.

That writer was me and the tiny feet sticking out from under the house belonged to my muses. One set sported a cute pair of pink tennis shoes. And the other? Well, she had on a pair of stilettos with six inch heels…

When I first started writing, I never conceived that I would cross any of the invisible lines I had set up for myself. You know the lines I’m talking about right? The first line was…oh, I could never type X-X-X-X-X…nope neeeever!! Okay, three weeks later you find yourself looking out of one eye doing that very thing. Then you think, oh, I could never put her on her knees in front of him—eeekkk!! That’s just too close to that line. Before you know it a few weeks later you’ve not only got her on her knees but her hands are tied behind her back and they’re playing oxygen deprivation games. 

In my case, I crossed all the lines at once and I’ve never looked back. You should have seen the conversation I had with my muses over this line crossing game they were playing with me when they decided I would write outside all the polite lines.

“Go away, Bronwyn!! Arwen and I were perfectly normal until YOU got here.”

Then my hands would go over my ears and I’d stomp away only to look up and the little vixen would be standing right in front of me with an e-veel grin.

“What do you want now? I’ve beat my characters, I’ve tied them up, I’ve screwed with their minds until they are probably afraid to surface around here. Now what?”

“They need more players.”

“’Scuse me?”

“They. Need. More. Players.”

Yes, she actually was demanding I write not only BDSM, but ménage. Well, okay. Scowling, but smiling on the inside because to be perfectly honest the whole idea did intrigue me quite a bit, I put fingers to keyboard and it began.

“Satisfied, Bronwyn?”

“For now.”

I went back to life as normal after penning Identity Crisis, the first in what would turn into a full blown series little to my knowledge at the time. Then in between installments of that I wrote Three for Keeps, much to my muses’ satisfaction, another ménage involving not just three, but four, players. Things were definitely heating up and getting interesting. And I was really beginning to like that stuff. Then wouldn’t you know it…Bronwyn started tapping her little booted foot again.

“Ga-reat! What now?!”

“You know you have it in you to write a m/m/f ménage.”

“No, I don’t.”

“Yes, you do.”

I swallowed, twisted my lip up on one side, and shot her a dirty look.

“Yeah. No. I said I wouldn’t write m/m anything until I had a firm grasp on how it worked.”

“You know how it works.”

I picked Bronwyn up off her little couch and put her in her tiny cage with a ball gag in her mouth. Arwen, looking quite frightened, smiled sweetly and started telling the story the way she saw fit, which by the way wasn’t working at all. After a few chapters I went back, revised, fixed a transition, and brought Bronwyn out of her confinement. Her help was needed desperately and I discovered she was correct in that I knew how IT worked.

And here’s what I learned…

Male/male sex is only different from male/female sex in the logistics of it. The emotions are exactly the same, but my problem was how did I put together a bi-sexual man, a gay man and a straight woman and make that work? It took some doing and after digging out Barbie, GI Joe, and Ken, I managed to figure out how to connect all three without any touching between the gay man and straight woman and everyone was quite satisfied with the outcome.

Whew! Talk about love by the numbers…

Thanks for having me over today! And thanks to all the readers for coming by and having a read. Hope you enjoyed your time here as much as I have. Feel free to leave me some questions and comments. I’d love to chat a bit today!

We may be born to the lifestyle

Julie Stevens and Dante Larson always knew their tastes were a bit more eccentric than those of the average person, but acknowledgement of their chosen paths came at different times. While their lives have run parallel for the last twenty years, destiny always came knocking at the wrong time. Julie was a closeted edge player and before Dante could pull her free of her fears, Mason came along and dragged her kicking and screaming from her self-inflicted darkness, leaving Dante wanting. Although Dante’s been in love with Julie since the day he first laid eyes on her, he’s happily married to Blake. But the tides are turning.

But Lady Fate dictates how it should be lived…

Still mourning the death of the only Master she’s ever known, Julie finds herself forced to live with the one man she’s been terrified of for years, Dante. While she has to admit something between them feels right, just as many things feel very, very wrong, starting with the fact he’s married to her gay best friend. Before she even has time to sort out her current predicament, another man catches Julie’s attention. But after losing her mother, her sister, and her husband, can Julie come to grips with the fact that Keegan D’Amate jumps out of perfectly good helicopters for a living, rescue diving for the Coast Guard? And where exactly does that leave Dante, who knows for sure he needs a woman to complete his unconventional marriage? Quite frankly, he’s tired of waiting.
